I'd second that, going to see Snakes on a Plane 2 just to see Snakes on a Plane 2. And while I can't comment on this new Beowulf yet, having not seen it, I will say that I thoroughly enjoyed the fairly recent Beowulf and Grendel, which starred Gerard "King Leonidas" Butler.

I work at a movie theater and we usually don't get the movies until the day before they come, there are some exceptions like Transformers, we got that one almost two weeks before, it was locked though and we didn't have the code to unlock it until the day before. It was insane.
I will definantly be previewing this one though mostly for the trailer.

as i posted in a previous thread, my girlfriend's mom's boyfriend won tickets to see an early screening of beowulf on the 13th. Kraker is also going to see the movie early.
here's the link for the thread http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=21897

Wouldnt the theaters have the film by now
Probably should have done that in my last post. I was just saying I was excited about seeing it. I never get to stay and watch the movies at work because of school, but this time I finally get too.

but apparently it's only released in IMAX 3D and the regular movie theater's digital 3D
Incorrect. The theater i work at is getting Beowulf, and we have neither IMAX nor digital 3D. We will be showing it on standard 35mm film, just like every other movie we have shown this year.
We don't typically get prints until 1 day before their release date, so I don't expect to get our copy of Beowulf until 11/15, although it might come in on 11/14 due to allowed early screenings on Thursday night.

Just to clear some stuff up, yes, me and some other people will be seeing the movie on the 13th.
I'm not sure what we will be seeing. I know I am supposed to see the real thing, no preview, just due to certain circumstances. As for others, I'm not sure since the UK might have a different system set up. Oh well, the more people, the more to confirm.
I call posting first if there is a trailer tho
EDIT: I am calling out to anyone who might be seeing it the 13th, if you can, do film just the trailer on a phone or something. I'll try too, but mine cannot link to the internet so no upload there.
If someone has an Iphone, well, you know what to do :-p

They've already done Beowulf.. the 13th Warrior was pretty much the same story. I had to suffer through Beowulf in 5th grade; draw pictures of the story, recite it aloud with the class.... I'll just wait for the new trailer to be posted on youtube... no way I'm going to pay theatre prices for a bad cgi movie of gradeschool required reading.
Blech.

I was forced to read it too. Give it 5 years more distance and then read Seamus Heaney's translation. It makes the whole thing enjoyable, which I thought in never could be. Even better (and this might sound weird) read it aloud to someone during a powercut. I'm curious to see the film to see what Neil Gaiman's done with it, I like most of his stuff.
Edited for dodgy bbcode

Seamus Heaney's Beowulf is appearently readable.
I have to see Beowulf sometime.
..but rare is when you see an epic poem becoming a video game. Yes, Beowulf: The Video Game is real...

13th Warrior was alright, but I really enjoyed the Michael Crichton book it was based on. Eaters of the Dead. It was a great hero story that explained the supernatural and made the reality unbelievable.

I know about eaters of the dead. I'm not a huge Crichton fan. JP series was the only thing I liked. I nearly died laughing while reading Congo (head squishing apes... LAWLZ!), Sphere had me close to catatonia it was so boring... So I never read eaters. A bookworm friend of mine told me it was a beowulf ripoff when I asked about it, so I just counted it out right then and there. I had no idea that 13th Warrior was based on eaters of the dead when I saw it. Was annoyed.

Eaters of the Dead was 13th Warrior I know all this is on IMDB, but my buddy and I saw ( i forget which ) a film with a very intense "Eaters of the Dead" teaser, and both thought it'd be a cool film ( I know book by its cover ) and near as I recall no mention of Antonio being in it.
Assuming the movie existed, I'm curious as to what the original plan was, it was really a powerful teaser, and I enjoyed 13th Warrior, but the film that never was always seems promising!
