Alecia/puzzle

I recieved an email from Alecia today. I don't know if it is meant for anybody outside of OE, but since this site is off-game, I'll post it anyway.

2-3,4-2,2-1,8-1
8-1,8-2,3-2,7-4,
3-1,2-1,9-3,
900 7-1,6-1
3-2,7-4,8-1
4-3, 7-3, 2-3, #2-2,3-2,6-2

David, I am sorry about the OE mail problems. I don't know what is
going on.
I will use this one from now on.

Alecia

If the code isn't meant for or accessible to ohters, is there any point in us solving it?

I'm not trying to be snotty, I'm just unclear about the conventions here.

ETA: Especially because this is a very easy code that I just cracked. Should I just refrain from finishing solving it? Should I post an answer regardless?

If you've got a solve, the best behavior is to share it Smile
It's collaborative solving !

Prior to the chat with Nash, I'd have shared your opinion, but now Im not so sure.
I mean: Nash clearly stated that one team solving puzzles before another would influence in the storyline... Shocked

One thing is to share info that we know we cannot use in-game... and another thing is to help "the enemy" with their puzzles... Hope you see my point here Shocked

Sure I see the point
btw I still think that UF might be a sort of DMZ where contribution should be made without thinking of the ingame effect
I does agree that it would require some twisted mind to forgot what you see in a puzzle solve...

There are going to be two schools of thought.

1) Don't share Ideltech puzzles, Don't share OE puzzles, and Don't share Restorers puzzles.

2) Share everything in UF but if you are not part of the group that owns the puzzle, you have to pretend that you didn't see it (when you are in the IU forums and the Ideltech universe).

IMHO - we have already shared Ideltech employee stuff. Sharing also allows the wiki guide people to create a better synopsis (they can set up separate threads for the different groups).

Just behave & police yourselves - if you are an Ideltech employee, and you read about an OE puzzle and the solve, don't go blabbing to Marcus or Melody. If you are an OE person and you read about an Ideltech puzzle and the solve in here, don't go tattling to Alecia. Etc.

Then we can all enjoy the fun.

Now, post the solve (spoilers would be appropriate) if you have it Smile

My spec is that each puzzle is our way of contacting our respective groups. I think each group is doing their recruitment, so now's the time we have to choose who we work for. So yes Tablesaw, I think you should share your findings, just incase someone out there wants to work for Alecia. I don't know why they would want to work for a murderer and thief. Wink

What you've addressed here relates to the sharing of puzzles, not the sharing of answers. Obviously, once a puzzle has been posted to UF, it's clear which school of thought the poster subscribes to. Also, it negates the school of thought of anyone else within the same organization.

As they say in law, "The bell cannot be unrung."

I'm asking about the solving of puzzles. If I, as an Ideltech-affiliated player, solve the puzzle in place of an OE-affiliated player, what do the OE players do then? If they see the answer, they can't solve the puzzle. But, unlike me, they are *supposed* to solve the puzzle. They can't just ignore it. Wouldn't it, then, be unethical for me to post an answer?

I would like to police myself, but it's unclear what "laws" the "self police" are expected to enforce. That's the point of the question.

Well, I just started the game, and so I haven't ruled out switching sides. But even if I wanted to work with OE, posting the solve wouldn't have any bearing on that, since I couldn't go anyway, since the information doesn't exist in-game for me.

And, although I'm being argumentative, I'm hoping that being argumentative and demanding early in the game will mean that I don't have to be so later on. Also, I'm really hoping that an OE person will solve the puzzle. It really is very simple, much clearer than the Ideltech puzzle.

okay, I get the gist. Makes sense.

Share the puzzles. But it's an OE person that has to post the solve (not an Ideltech person). That makes sense. Share the raw data, but don't help the competition. However, after it is solved, then post the how and what results for all of us (non-puzzle solving ability persons) to see?

Ok, then. I have no idea how to solve this, so could an OE person please help me?

Yeah, I figured this out a few hours ago, didn't see there was a thread for it here:

Quite an easy thing to figure out actually, just look at your mobile phones (or cell phones for you yanks Wink)

2-3 is the third letter on the number 2 key,
4-2 is the second letter on the number 4 key,
and so on....

Yes, I am apart of OE for those who didn't know.

*Edited to spoiler the solution for those that want to figure it out on their own Wink -varin
