Just read the article...

I wonder what they mean by "The second poster is having their age verified to satisfy regulators, who insist that beer advertising is aimed at over-25s"
The second poster to post it on you tube? I didnt think it was a requirement for anybody else to post it on you tube as RedHatty already did :s confused by this. Also I didnt know the age was minimum of 25 !!! I guess I assumed it was 18.
Anyway I completed it 6 mins after Red hatty posted in this thread, but I havent been contacted so it must be someone in between our times Smile

Have missed playing this game though Sad

Personally? I prefer story ARGs to contests.
But also the fact that this game was for UK folks. I wanted to let the UK folks work it (cause so many times they complain that US stuff is not available to them).

Not ARG-enough? Too short? T&Cs?
Maybe the very mechanics that drew me here put the vets off.

Hope some other threads give you more feedback for your chat with iCG. And as I'm interested in how Guinness are going to present the result, I'll add anything pertinent before the thread dies completely.

I think ARGs as marketing (or "ARGeting" if you will) makes the "vets" turn their nose up.... lol

Age Verification
Explanation

It's deeply sad that I have to know this but just in case anyone else is curious and it is, technically, work related activity, here goes.

As part of the The World Health Organisation's European Charter on Alcohol various bits of legislation were enacted (which is why you often see sports teams with their sponsor's logos missing on TV in the EU). In the UK there is The British Code of Advertising Practice and section 11 deals with alcohol and 11.8.2.(a).2 states:

Children must not be seen or heard, and no-one who is, or appears to
be, under 25 years old may play a significant role in advertisements for
alcoholic drinks.

As the winner of the prize will be required to do promotional activity for Guinness, they must comply with the above.

It's also nice to see The Grauniad maintaining its reputation for rigorous journalism by getting the first poster's name wrong.

I think that is ridiculous - I don't know what age you are legally an "adult" in the UK, but if it is age 21, then they should be able to make their own decisions in every avenue out there.

I'm assuming as this thread is more or less dead no one will object too much to us stringing it out. And I realise this'll be dull.

Adult in the UK? Depends what you're trying to do so; 16, 17, 18, 21 or 25 to my knowledge, is when you're classed as adult. 16 and you can legally kill people if in service of the Government or legally combine with a person of the opposite gender (but not the same gender, if male) to have a nice time: 25 if you want to say "I like Jack & Coke" apparently. And we used to laugh at North American over-regulation.

The T&Cs only mention over-18 which is the legal minimum whereby you can buy alcohol in England & Wales: the 25 caveat is a for promoting alcohol consumption and appearing in an ad.

On a note for similar viral campaigns: there has been some concern expressed over here that Guinness' use of YouTube, Flikr, Facebook etc, has legal implications whereby saying "Open to UK residents only" gets round all the legal restraints about advertising to "restricted markets". So it'll be interesting to see how the US reacts.

For me, this and the Numb3rs one are games: the object is to beat the game. As RedHatty said, "swag is cool" but as Sherlock Holmes said "Watson, the game's afoot".

I don't think the US is going to care if Guinness or any viral ads are going to use YouTube or myspace, or facebook or flickr; especially with a disclaimer on the game for age. There is so much stuff on there I think it is the least of the worries. I know they had issues lately with luring children, but not luring children with alcohol. What it comes down to is parents monitoring their own minor children's use of those sites.

Not yet Sad I'm sure that the gentleman is very busy being back at the US office, after time in the UK, so I am being patient - I know he's around though, I see him pop in & out of his IM program.

I am sure he will get back with me when he has the chance

Clue 6
I'm blind

I've been staring at the picture on Flikr that everyone says contains the 6 digit code for Domino 6 and I just can't see it.
Can someone spell out for me what I should be looking for. Duh!

The guinness dominoes
clues and tips on the guinness dominoes

Hi, the third clue is the auto shop, HINT: theres a cleaning product and a dirty car on the site, clean the door with the cloth,

the fourth you go to http://www.arenasdetiempo.com/ and find the book which has a spine the same as a glass of guinness

the fith is very tricky, something to do with the painting in the room, with the guy with string, search for the artist, this is as far as i got! have been looking for this for 2 days now!! god luck with ur searches!!
