[REFERENCE] Trailer #2 - Transcript / Auido Analysis

Here is a transcript of the second trailer. Let me know if you hear anything differently. I'll update this, if needed, when the HD trailer comes out.

[rob on phone]
Rob: Hello? Beth? Beth, where are you?

Marlena: OK, we can not go into the middle of the city. We've got to get out of here!

Soldier: There's nothing you can do for her now

Marlena: Do you know what that thing is?
Soldier: What ever it is, it's winning.

Unknown: Do you have any idea what's out there?
Rob: I don't care what's out there. listen to me, she's dying.

Unknown: Turn that camera [off]

[monster roar]
Hawk?: Rob, Rob, Rob, I saw it
Hawk?: Rob, Rob, It's alive!

Might not be

I think so. I can't see anyone in the carriage, and horse seem to be strolling at it's own pace.

My memory from seeing the trailer and from now watching the poorly captured version is that before the windows explode, who ever the guy was talking to (my memory is that it was a girl and he wasn't saying Rob Rob... he was saying something else... could be wrong on that point... can't remember clearly).... he didn't say "It's alive".... he said "It's alright." (I do remember that pretty clearly though).

Seriously, makes a lot more sense in the context of that seen... ya know... irony and all.

And they STILL don't tell us who is playing Jamie! Maybe she isn't even in the movie???

I like that...
makes perfect sense...

Unless the scene was right after they hid when the statue of Liberty Head came flying by... and they ran into the store to hide... then [Hawk?] re-itterates that "its alive"...

I listened to the Quicktime version of the convenience store scene again through headphones and my ears hear the following dialogue, however, I can't parse out who is saying what:

(monster roar)
Rob
come inside
I need to go to my car
Rob, Rob
It's alive

The word "go" above might also be heard as "get".

The word "car" might also be heard as "cart" or "card". Given how few New Yorkers have cars, maybe one of the other interpretations is more likely.

"It's alive" makes no sense given the context, as others have stated. I'm not sure what he actually says, though.

Ok... based on DougBThree's comments, I now think he's saying "It's a loss"

(monster roar)
Rob, come inside
I need to go to my car
Rob, Rob
It's a loss

Also, instead of "... pointing that camera ...", that guy is saying: "turn that camera [off]"

Lily doesn't say "What was that" after the buzzing, its marlene
and the carriage part, rob sounds the the first speaker, hud the second... just because hud fell down doesn't mean he's dead, nor is there any reason to believe the shots are in any order if he is dead.

Yeah... I keep mixing them up.

The Hud/Rob change makes sense, but if Hud is hurt/dead, it could be Hawk.

Thanks for the tags SpaceBass... i was going to put some, but I couldn't decide. I think I was going to go with [NEW][SPEC], but I like [REF]!

I don't think [meta] is appropriate, based on the guidelines:

OK, I spent some more time under the headphones on our convenience store scene, this time using the new "brighter" version of the trailer linked from this thread: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=22020

The audio seems a little clearer and now what I hear is different:

(monster roar)
Rob, it's back
Rob, I saw it
Rob, Rob, it's alive

Pretty different from my earlier interpretation, I know, but that's what I hear. I realize there's a lot of skepticism on the word "alive", but FWIW that's what it sounds like to me.

I went back to the Quicktime version to compare, and I now hear it similarly there, but with one exception. For the second line, instead of "Rob, I saw it", in that version I hear "I know, I saw it".

I'm thinking maybe the different versions are picking up different parts of the stereo spectrum (or of the 5.1 mix), and as we saw from the breakdown of the audio tracks in the teaser, you can certainly get different pieces of the dialogue depending on which track you listen to. Maybe we'll be able to resolve this after getting the official HD trailer.

I saw the HD trailer twice last night in the theater and both times I could clearly hear him say "its alive"...I would speculate this scene takes place early on in the film and the characters may not know what's going on, who is doing what, maybe they think its some type of weapon system or massive gun? Could be anything, but I'm positive I heard "it's alive".

Whups, sorry! I was in the habit from tagging all of the threads pointing to different copies of the trailer around the net. Wink
