[META][QUESTION] Anyone else disappointed by the title? AFter all this speculation, we have been calling it by the title all along.
I thought there was supposed to be a "real" title!
sounds to me like a cop out!

I'm fine with it. What did everyone want the title to be?

Cloverfield is the codename the US Army gave the monster in the trailer.

Cloverfield, I'm guessing is simply the identifier the feds used to catalog the events of and investigation prior. With the footage showing military presence almost immediately after I'm guessing they were onto it happening some time before the crap hitting the fan.

anyone wierded out by "Case designate"
shouldnt it have been Designated?
grammar seems off... or am i wrong?
and Cloverfield could still be a working title... it doesnt have to be the final title, so dont be so quick to throw others away simply because of this trailer...

Pardon my bad grammar. Heres the true version of it.

"Case Designate" is how to approach the term. It's referring to one thing, one subject. Like identifying something not definitively known, or assigned. The pronoun form.
The government especially uses terms like these.. i.e. Ambassador Designate
Basically a placeholder term.

My honest opinion is that we will get a different name, but there is a 90% chance i am wrong, so cloverfield it may be.
