Still can't pin down William Hawkins, it's too common a name - may turn out to be a fictional character.

Excellent job with the coordinates, you guys! I was a little disappointed to see that smithy wants us to email him rather than post comments on his flickr though, it seems so much more convenient to comment. But then we already have this forum, so maybe he didn't want things to be TOO transparent.

I'm not sure why smithy thinks Jones may be trying to protect him (have to reread his messages), but if he is, I am soooooo pulling for Jones to be a robot. C'mon, UFOs, Lovecraft, the occult, AND robots?? What more could we want?

Speaking of protecting, this is just speculation, but I wonder if that's why Hawkins is mentioned in the CIA report...? I dunno.

Has anybody gotten that .WAV file that Jones sent Smithy?

I took some notes on Uriah's diary and found out a few more things, but I'll put them in a separate post.

In the last diary page, I think the Danforth Tettelston mentions is a character in the Lovecraft story "At the Mountians of Madness".
He was on an expedition to the antarctic which revealed great old ones, and weird architecture.

[Slight Edit: mp3 files now attached to this post.] There's a transcript below for those without speakers, but otherwise have a listen and find out exactly who, or what, Jon Jones is (assuming we can believe him)...

Antarctic, eh? That might well tie in with Smithy's Google Earth comment on Vinson Massif...

Update: Here's what I've got for the transcript. There are a few words which I can't quite make out in my morning state, although maybe the most important one is the name of the security software. At least some other stuff makes more sense now.

 		Once again, this is referring to an "actual" UFO event - There was a huge rash of UFO sightings in Michigan (the county mentioned) in 1966, culminating in "The Great Chase"

In addition, J. Allen Hynek (the man in the photo) was a Northwestern-based UFO-ologist and skeptic who later founded the center for ufo studies AND advised the government on Project Blue Book. He went to Michigan to investigate in '66 and determined it was NOT a UFO incident - he claimed it was marsh gas.

 		Im kinda stuck!
im stuck with this encryption, i cannot work out what the key is.
it should be the "sage who guides you" and altho i though this could be quite obvious at first, i.e. something to do with the person guiding us on the quest,
im guessing either smithy or this tettleston character.

altho, im starting to think this clue might be a bit deeper, because it seems that the word "sage" has a lot of meanings

 		The translated text refers to a destroyed face - presumably the one in the photo. It look remarkably similar to any number of "faces" found in rock formations on planets - like the famous "face on mars." It has the same raised outline (because it's a mountain) and patterns in the middle - perhaps after having been destroyed?
