 		First thing - Alithia appearance in this chat makes Giskard's proposal here the only one acceptable to make things "real" - she wasn't suppossed to know about that chat!!

 		Given that this was the second Ideltech chat (supposedly the more secure one), I strongly feel that it should be posted on IU and not here. However I do agree that it is vital that the log be made available to those who were invited to the meeting, but were unable to attend.

It is possible that Marty's hints will become a puzzle for all three groups -- but we don't know that yet.

It is detrimental to the game if players force chat logs to be deleted from IU (or never posted at all), only to say 'that is ok, the genuine Ideltech people can assume the UF post to be in game' This spoils the immersion, and adds to the confusion of all the players. I believe this is part of what Giskard is talking about. Additionally, it is terribly unfair on those players who do not to come to unfiction regularly.

If there is a player being a double agent, or using 2 user accounts at IU, they can still read everything here. People breaking some of the rules are unlikely to have scruples about acting on out of game information. Ultimately Nash will have to be the one to deal with them.


btw the log I was asked to delete at IU (by two other players) started with a link for Skype (peer-to-peer phone software)

Could be wrong, but I think the log was posted here because IU has been flaky/down. Unfortunately, as long as it's UF which is more stable, it makes it the better source for information sharing.

You were asked to delete a chat log from IU, the place where we are supposed to post them???

I understand people not posting chat logs here, but why should we delete thos in IU??

Shelina, I think Lys is saying that one of the other groups OE or Restorers had posted a link to Skype. Since the only way they would know about it is from reading the chat log on this board, they are using "out of game" information and posting it at IU as in-game. It would be like one of us going into chat with Marcus and giving him the link to the gun receipt.

Ummm... I'm sorry, but this makes no sense. Who are they going to give it to? HIM! Yeah, it would probably take a few months to get all the reports and claims filed, but they would give HIM the money, so I can't even begin to understand why he's saying this. Especially if every nickel that went into the facility was personally his, then he needs to file a claim or he'll never see a penny of that money. And he makes it sound like OE and the Restorers are somehow preventing him from collecting. Sure, they make it dangerous for him to walk idly around town, but I don't see how their existence prevents him from running to the FBI and filing a claim.

He should be looking for them.

I can understand the argument that he's better of on his own, hiding. That maybe federal law enforcement can't protect him from OE. But ya know what? Marcus is a technology guy. A business man. He isn't a survivalist so I'm not sure how he's better off on his own than in an FBI safe house. Anyway... good chat.

Ummm... I'm sorry, but this makes no sense.

Yeah, I know. But I decided to drop it. PMs can't think through everything. At my job, I've read far too many corporate documents, and if I pressed for reality, something might have popped. In general, I think the idea is that the company isn't dead and gone, it's just sleeping.

I don't think he trusts the DOD. You may be noticing a trend about Marcus not trusting anybody. ANYBODY. Aren't acts of terrorism a standard exclusion on commercial insurance these days? Even if the explosion was industrial mayhem with a profit motive, insurance companies would be happy to hang their hats on such exclusions, particularly considering the purpose the company served.

What he meant by who would they give the money to is he's not about to walk in and pick up a check when people are trying to kill him. And as for not going to the feds, Alecia has friends all over the bureaus, she would have to in her line of business. He's afraid to reveal his whereabouts to anyone who might pass that information on. Now what he should have done was asked us to contact the feds for him, not revealing his location until the investigation had proven who was responsible. But it's kinda like Pelican Brief, if you don't know who in the gov to trust, if you don't have a friend in there, and someone with close ties to the gov is potentially trying to kill you, you're not gonna just walk into the FBI HQ.

First off, the only reason the log was posted here was because most of us couldn't even read anything at IU yesterday, and people needed to see the log.

As for deleting it, we were expecting that to only be for a very short time while we weeded out one person we thought wasn't supposed to be there. But once the issue was resolved, no one could get IU to work long enough to post anything.

This was a combination of factors that caused this problem. I think any further discussions about limiting this kind of information exclusively to IU has to be on hold until IU is working properly. I can't even read a single message there today. I don't know how else to share info except on here.

 		I'm not aware of "terrorism" being a standard write-off. I'm not sure I would even call it terrorism, despite the government's best efforts to label most any violent act just that. I'll buy most of the other rebukes to what I wrote. Sure, he'll want to lay low, and sure he could be suspicious that OE has people in the FBI. I'll chalk some of it up to the english not being his native tongue, but it sounded an awful lot to me like he thought he was never ever going to see any insurance money, which is pretty far-fetched. Nice Pelican Brief ref, that's old school.

English not being his native tongue? I thought Nash was a in the US military and only stationed somewhere in Germany. Am I wrong?

Good old red headed American boy, an Air Traffic Controller in the Army. Lots of long boring days/nights while he was stationed in the middle east for a tour (when he found Acheron and started writing AWARE). Now back in Germany. Probably stays up late at night (maybe he has mid-shifts and when flying is slow, ATC people have lots of spare time on their hands).

konashark (my hubby) is an ATC in the Air Force. Plays a lot of gameboy and watches DVDs on his little portable player during mid-shifts unless there is a military exercise going on at night (very rare).
