i think its a shell. a huge fucking shell, thats why they cant take the bastard down. think by comparsion that shell would have to be about 15 feet thick and more at points on a creature that size. common ballistic firearms wouldnt do s---. and if the thing has been in the ocean this whole time, that sucker is saturated with water, and no explosion is going to do jack.

whos with me?

I dunno... bullets probably wouldn't have that much of an effect from that distance... and it'd be a crappy monster if it went down from some bazooka shots. Razz

I have a feeling even if it suffers heavy wounds, it escapes after destroying most of the city. If it dies, then there's no mystery or *cough* sequel.

When I watched the trailer I was pretty sure that the monster was behind the building as illustrated above, but when I look at the still shot posted above I noticed something else. There is an odd shadow on the building in front of the creature (circled in red), also on one of the buildings (I assume the buildings are all CGI since some are falling over) there is an odd sign saying just "THE TEXT" on it, has anyone else looked for maybe a billboard or other sign in the trailer that may have another clue for us ARGers?

its just so goddam big, this movie is going to be really incredible. the last movie that actually frightened me was 28 days later because while outrageous it was plausible. JJ using viral and ARG to set up story is brilliant. but thats another thread.

Silo of Monster

I silo'd the monster from the buildings and blurred out the background...definitely looking like a dinosaur to me...What do you think?

Towards the bottom you can see the claws, if you watch the HD version with Quicktime and use the arrow keys after pausing it, you can see the claw moving with the monster.

Or maybe not...

Not seeing a dinosaur necessarily, it's too hard to say. Definitely a small portion of the monster's body though. It's unmistakable with the way it moves behind the buildings. NOT smoke. Could be a head, could be part of an appendage, but the way it swings forward, it's neither smoke nor part of the crumbling building. At least, that's how I see it.

Personally I think it looks like either a tenticle or a long neck. Ill possibly upload a picture trying to explain why. But I think it does look like tenticle or something.

Perhaps we are looking at either a squid, octopus, snake, or asian dragon.

hi new to the forums.

just wanted to point out that "The text" means..... nothing ! yeah right

seen at 0:48 in the trailer

this is when the SOL`s head is thrown into the city... wich could mean that the monster rushes into the same street right after its throws the head in and in that moment the army appears.... but issnt that weird ?! how can the army react THAT fast ? in new york !!!!

its a trailer, those two scenes arent necessarily in sequence. (army firing up and monster smashing building) the sighting of the monster in trailer 2 could be right after SOL's bean crashes down. theres no rockets or bullets flying towards the monster in the brief glimpse we get.

this is how they f with us.

Agreed... how awesome would it be if after a few minutes into the movie, the SoL head comes crashing through and all of a sudden, BAM, the National Guard/Army is there shooting at this giant thing! Of course, this is just speculation that the movie starts with the party, etc, but I love when a movie throws you right into the action right away.

Heh, gosh. After jon-561 posted that picture with the background blurred out, all I can see is a face in that picture now.

Original:

Heh, I am sure I am just seeing things, but to me it looks like a giant head, and the monster is moving backwards to escape the military fire.

^ I saw that too. Problem is though, if you watch it in the actual trailer, the 'head' is semi-transparant and comes out of the building. Or appears to.

Dun dun dun! Maybe the monster is a phantom!
