Poll: Which is better, the Teaser or the Trailer?
You know it's important to Abrams and Co.

I think I know which I'm voting for.

I enjoyed the teaser, but with the better model of Liberty's head, as well as the greater sense of danger and destruction the full trailer better sets the tone of things. Smile

@Kingpin: For sure, there are some nice visuals.

@A.J.: Valid point. The Trailer is a different net meant to catch a different fish(?)

Anyway, I like the Trailer, but the Teaser remains the real triumph in my book.

Here's another interesting image.
Letter C on the graph is Comic-Con.

I'd have to say that the teaser really captured me into the Cloverfield stuff and was one of the best teasers that I've ever seen. However, the trailer is so amazing. The CG and real stuff is so seamless. This movie's going to be so good. Although my last statements, I knew that the movie was going to be good when I saw the teaser. So, I'll go with the teaser, as the trailer was really more of a treat for us all.

I'm the opposite.

I see the trailer as a HUGE letdown. Of course, we all knew that NOTHING could live up to the hype we were generating for it ourselves, so even a new "Citizen Kane" would wind up disappointing at least a few in the audience.

But as I slogged thru the new trailer? The only thing I kept thinking was, "I'll wait to rent the DVD instead." Shifty Eyes Coffee

I gotta say, I think the Teaser was amazing. Yes the trailer still has me hooked, but Teasers just sorta suck these days. Like the The Dark Night Teaser... It's just a decaying Bat symbol with some dialog (the best part is hearing Heath Ledger as the Joker at the end) I mean, I wanna see the next Batman only because Batman Begins was great, and the Joker is one of my favorite Characters. The teaser didnt sell the movie to me, it only reminded me about it.

The first time I heard about Cloverfield was when a guy who worked on the film posted on his board "Ive started working on a new secret show called Cloverfield, all you Horror,sci-fi fans have to wait!"

I didnt think much about it, because he told us about several movies he is working on. I decided to look into it and saw an article out of one of the Hollywood trades, it just said something to the effect that JJ Abrams was working a hush hush project that has been given the code name "Parasite" and "Cloverfield" Cast and crew are under strict gag orders.

A few weeks later I saw the Teaser Trailer when Transformers came out and remembered the name JJ Abrams. The teaser also had no title attached to it. I asked if that was the film "Cloverfield" and they guy I was reffering to said it was it, and asked me how did I like seeing the Statue of Liberty's head flying threw the air

I WAS HOOKED. Partly because of the mistery, but that teaser looked exciting!

(The guy Im referring to was asked alot of stuff about the film on his personal forums and decided to no longer answer questions. Besides for a couple of statements I was given about the film, he will no longer talk about it.)

He did say it's gonna be bad ass, and to think of it as Godzilla meets Escape from New York

Yes, the trailer is really amazing. We are learning a lot from it. It's exciting, fast paced...

But it's a trailer.
It's like a lot of other trailers.

The teaser was very highly unconventional. I haven't seen a teaser or trailer that has grabbed my attention like that ever before. I usually sit there before a movie, either enjoying a trailer or teaser or two that I already know about for something I'm interested in - or I just half pay attention and spend the time more relaxing and getting into a state of mind for the feature.
When I saw the teaser before Transformers, I started out not paying all that close attention and thinking it was too 'hip friends movie' sounding. When the first roar came about I was stunned. It had ALL of my attention. I was literally saying "wtf was that?". I made note of the 1-18-08 date, so I could remember to search out the info when I got home. I couldn't tell you what came along for at least 5 min. after that. The FIRST thing I did when I got home was sit down and fire up a Google search for 1-18-08. In terms of impact, how much more compelling could you want?

If only every teaser could get me so intrigued and catch me so off guard.

I also have to vote for the teaser. If there had only ever been the trailer, I might have thought, "Hmm, that looks interesting", but I don't think it would have prompted almost 5 months of obsession on my part.

The trailer was absolutely jarring. That roar will live in infamy. It created such a paradigm shift from the scenes that preceded it, and it was amazing that such a huge shift could be conveyed in such a short piece of film. To me it speaks to a level of innovation and creativity that, if sustained in the actual movie, could make for something really memorable.

On another note, the very quick cut style of the trailer is a tad annoying. The teaser lingered on each scene much longer. I'm assuming that's more indicative of the flow of the actual movie, and is certainly a more realistic representation of what someone with a video camera would do.

So...any particular reason you're making all this personal, Patrick Star? Or were you just born an asshole? Curious. Question

The teaser by far. I mean thats the only time I've seen/heard that much excitment from an audience during the trailers.

It was just attention grabbing and just... wow.

The trailer, well it's just another, reguler, trailer. Movie still looks good but the trailer is the same as all the other trailers out there.
