Air Force guy here. The uniforms are hard to make out. i do see the NEW Army ACU (Army Combat Uniform) (BTW they havent been called FATIGUES since the 1980s, Fatigues are a different Uniform, no longer worn)
The Pixilated face uniform is hard to tell because it's dark and he has alot of web gear on, but his patches are located in US Army configuration.
That isnt 100% means it's US Army, it could be US National Guard.
Now when we see the military shooting Rocket launchers and such, That is safe to assume that it is either Army or Marine.
Now as far as pin pointing thier location? Thats tough, if we assume that the military had advance warning, then they could be from anywhere, whenever there is a dissaster we foraward deploy troops from all over CONUS.
But if are to assume that they are local, then you have several choices
Fort Drum is in New York. It is home to the 10th Mountain Division. That unit specializes in combat within harsh environments (mountians, snow, desert ect..) Fort Drum is on the western side of New York, and will be a long drive, but they are in State.
Fort Hamilton is probably the BEST bet, it is located in the SouthWest Corner of Brooklyn. It is home to the 12th and 21st Infantry Regiment. It also has units that support the National Guard. This Base would have the fastest response time
As far as Air Force is concerned. They could be from anywhere. New York does not have a fighter Base. New Jersey has a Mcguire Air Force Base, but that only has Cargo (C-17) and Tanker (KC-10) aircraft
So... Hopefully this helps a little

We really dont know yet, if the military knew in advance or not. It's all speculative.
I do know that Fort Hamilton could scramble a platoon or two with tanks in an hour and 20 minutes, so the time stamps that we have so far could still support either claim. Fighter Aircraft bases can have a pilot in the air within 20 minutes, so you add that plus however long the flight time is and you have your Airstrike.
Either way, we still dont really know if the military was caught off guard, or if they were standing by. Could still go either way just from an evidence stand point

I agree. It's too naive to assume that the Gov didn't know something . I doubt that this production will lack that sense of realism, considering the fright factor comes from the reality of it.
If nothing else, they saw something coming.
On a side note tho, here in Portland, they just had a "drill" for response time and communication efficiency in regards to crisis and attack. They stated the results showed there was definite room for improvement.
Who knows...
Edit: Not calling you naive clownnation.
@ Nighthawk - They have vehicles that move tanks by flatbed. Like big tractors.

One question I had: in and among all that firing, there's a TANK. I'll have to look at it in more detail, but it seemed like a big one and I'm tempted to think it's a (wait for it...) M1 Abrams tank.
***EDIT*** Pic from another thread... Thanks!
Question: Does the army conveniently have TANKS parked in and around New York City, particularly Manhattan? And, if not, is it conceivable that they be mobilized and rolling down Broadway in the matter of a few hours?

Yes it is an Abrams. two sides to this story
(1) If the military knew about the attack in advance, then they could have whatever they want parked and ready
(2) if they didnt have fair warning, then Fort Hamilon could have Tanks in place within One Hour and 20 minutes (thats the time that takes place from the first attack in the trailer, to when we know for a fact the military is there)
Fort Hamilton is located in Brooklyn and the M1 ABRAMS can travel up to 40 MPH on a road.

Well, I can tell you this. Chances are the Airstrike comes first. Why waste human life when a few jets can turn something into a parking lot with the push of a button.
My guess is the Air Force Showed up first and engaged. The thing didnt go down, so in come the infantry.
My point is, bt the time a monster starts knocking over buildings, and a few jets drop some hell on it. Im inclined to think that people have either left thier cars or turned around. The Tank would just plow in between the cars that are left, or tumble through the sidewalk. There is nothing on the sidewalk in most cases that will stop a tank.
It is hard to speculate this. I mean obviously, there is reason to HOPE that America would know in advance that a giant monster is heading to New York. But if they didnt, then is an Hour and twenty minutes fast enough to see military response. I think it's plausible. At least for a movie it is.

i already posted this in another forum - just copy & paste it - just a theory about the shop
check those quotes carefully... its definitvly the same street
(if you dont see it... check for "THE TEXT" to the right and check the buildings)
SOL`s Head hits the street

Monster Attack

so is it possible the run away after the SOL`s head is thrown into the street (as seen in the 0:48 picture) where lots of people are running away so rob and co decide to hide in some store in the same street... the monster goes along the the street but withdraws because the army is coming its way ?! they go out after they notice... see the army pushing and rush into the subway??? cant check HD trailer right now if there is a store that has been destroyed by the monster... so its just a theory

Also , we arent sure if they are from Fort Hamilton or not. That's just me assuming, because it's the closest base me thinks.
