Personally, I don't think that blast is from the monster but from an incindiary drop by the overhead aircraft.

Also note that there are TWO aircraft; at 00:47 the leftmost one is barely visible, but is on a perfect trajectory to make the bomb drop.

I don't have the resources to get screenshots here, but at 00:47 in the new trailer, as the fighter jet is flying over this blast, there are two small lights that appear detached from the aircraft... Can someone clarify what these are? Are they missiles?

Also, for the record... why do the vapor trails from the wingtips suddenly appear at 00:47? Or could that be the result of a launch?

(EDIT: Damn, three posts since i started this message...)

Contrails can form at the wingtips due to high altitude, weather conditions, or as is probably the case in this scene, intense maneuvering. Incase anybody cares, though I doubt it's significant, the planes look like F/A-18 Hornets.... used only by the Navy and Marine Corps.

Good catch. If they are, then the 2 lights above the right hand aircraft are probably the anti collision lights on the tail.

At 1st glance I thought it was F-22s, but they look like hornets. Even though I believe the monster to be a giant fire breathing turtle, the fire in the picture comes from bombardment, not the monster itself.
