PM Chat Arrangements

I just received an email from Adam responding to a request I sent for PM Chats. As he has entered the "dissertation phase" of his project, he's very eager to hear our feedback and pass along answers...

The poll is up to determine which means of communication you'd prefer for the PM Chat. The final decision and logistics is, of course, up to the PM team but it should be a good way to gauge interest / preferences.

Also, leave a comment with a general idea of when you might be available so we can arrange the best time/venue.

ALSO: there's one option I haven't listed, but I don't want to get into that unless/until I get confirmation it's okay.

I'm kind of torn between IRC and Unfiction Q&A. Ultimately I went for IRC because the live interaction is a nice personal touch. Although I think Q&A would be more informative since the PMs would have time to really think out their answers.

As far as availability, usually any time between 7pm and 2am CST is good for me. I can follow a chat while I'm at work. There's a break usually between 10 and 11 somewhere while I drive home. But I can hang out at work instead.

Difficult due to the fact that so many of us are in different time zones. However, if we can sort it out, I'd like the IRC option (hence my vote).

Also... completely unrelated, I've noticed signs in my city that refer to the areas as "districts." Add this to the stop and frisk policy that will be enacted next year....

Well, let's just say it's a bit disturbing and leave it at that. Wink

In some chats, people post questions for the PMs that they want to be answered as well as having an IRC chat. If people can't make the chat, they post their questions in a thread to be answered by the PMs. That system has worked well in the past.

Thanks rose...I should have been clearer -- any and all options can/will incorporate collecting questions on UF for those who can't make whatever we choose to do.

Wow that came out more convoluted than I would have liked.

If there's an IRC chat, at least make it some time I can get on from the UK!

Later in the evening would be great, like around/after midnight eastern time. It would be best the last week of the month or the first. I help my mom's business and it's our slow time then. As long as it's not during the day. I'm normally stuck in a car navigating or watching my nephew.

Well, what's a good time for you, Lex? I know you guys are 5 hours ahead of me... and I'm on the east coast, meaning I'm an hour ahead of Dallas, if I remember correctly (might not be...)

I love the little avatar Very Happy I missed seeing it.

Also... if it's midnight... can it be on a weekend? I wake up at 5am, and I work til... well, the time ranges, from 7pm-11pm, except on weekends. So I'd say evenings, but I can do any time on the weekends...

On a weekend, I can arrange my sleep schedule around it, so that's the best time. During the week, I'm at or travelling to/from work 50% of the time, so I only have a few hours in the evening here (which is afternoon there and might be awkward for some). But 6pm Eastern/11pm UK would be okay for all, perhaps.

So... at least for us two... weekend seems to be the best time. But other opinions are definitely needed, so come on folks!
