My son who is a quasi-expert on tanks (don't ask) says that Abrams tanks can easily fit in any of the tunnels to Manhattan. He also thinks they could easily cross the bridges. The Manhattan bridge has the subway operating across it as well as being filled with cars and trucks, so I think it can take the weight.

If tanks are too heavy for bridges, I'm not sure what size of amphibious vehicle you would need to float them across the river. Although I find the idea of an amphibious assault of Manhattan to be very creative thinking, that is an idea i don't think I've ever seen in a film before.

Also, a batallion of that size will certainly not go unnoticed in Manhattan. It's not like you can throw a sheet over an Abrams or a mobile missile launcher and not expect some eyebrows raised.

Yeah but I had a picture on page 2 that shows in real life they do have tanks rolling down the streets at certain times. but I guess nothing like the M1 Abrams

The Army has a major manufacturing site right around Albany where they produce most of their weapons, tanks, missles and pretty much anything that needs to be machined. If memory serves, it's in the neighborhood of a million sq. feet of manufacturing space and around 50 acres of land for housing and storage. Getting stuff there quickly would probably not be a problem.
