[SPEC][QUESTION] What if Slusho! isn't even in the movie? I've tossed the ideas around in my head, and personally, I'm beginning to question the plausability of Slusho doing anything in the movie.
A monster who seeks out people who drink Slusho?
A science company creating a monster with a drink?
Slusho mutating people or causing them to explode?
the ONLY thing I find semi-plausable is the last one I listed, but even then, WHO in their right mind would be trying to drink enough Slusho's to mutate / explode when something is rampaging through NYC? It all just sounds pretty corny to me TBH...
I bet J.J. & Co. are watching us chase these rabbit holes and laughing at us...

i think you are right, this was discussed in the 'slusho cant cause bursting people' thread: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=22171
but yah, i think its corny as well, and would sort of go against this whole 'serious' monster movie thing!

I don't see how in this movie, which will have an average runtime of an hour and a half/two hours probably, will somehow incorporate Slusho! and all the back story this 'game' has been giving us. I think the only Slusho! you get in this movie is what you've seen in the trailer on the guy's t-shirt, and throughout the movie.
Besides the fact that the movie goes from being a farewell party of some young guy in New York City to trying to stay alive, I fail to see how such things as Slusho! and Tagruto Corp, etc. are going to play such a significant, if any, part in this movie. I believe this is a monster movie without the ability to fit tons of 'back story' into it.
The biggest factor is that this is filmed from the point of view of a handheld camera. It would be very cheesy if Rob and the gang, somewhere in New York, happen to find some scientists who know exactly what is going on and how to stop it.
I think it's even been suggested that the scene in the new trailer where Rob says the whole, 'My name is Rob Hawkings, ...', could be from the end of the trailer. It looks like he is sitting down against a brick wall in what many people think is the last scene in the movie, due to the call sheet. So even then he doesn't know where the monster is from, if this is true.
To sum it all up, Slusho! is in this movie, but it's really only on that guy's t-shirt. It would be quite cheesy to have some drink lure a giant monster to a city and have people bloating up, etc.

You know I know that slusho seems bad for being in the movie but when I think about it, it could work.
Okay, Slusho is a Japan only drink at the moment and they are looking to expand, which the extensive underground drilling has awaken this beast(allegedly) now Rob is the American Rep for Slusho so I bet him and his friends were given Slusho samples, the one girls drinks more then 6 and maybe it makes her explode or maybe 6 slushos is a reactant for baby eggs that hatch but who knows.
I'm just saying slusho being in the movie can work and still be plausible and now totally out of whack of reality
(sorry if thats un followable I'm working on stuff at the time)

Are the characters going to make the connection to Slusho? Probably not.
But Slusho and the sinister company that owns it are detailed extensively in the viral sites, so it's part of the background fiction of the movie.

I disagree, they've invested too much into Slusho to have it be a frosty, tasty beverage, nothing more. There are way too many hints about it being harvested deep in the sea, about what it does, for it to have no role whatsoever. The dropped hints at transforming (turning into a whale) after ingesting seabed's nectar, and then we have the expanding / exploding woman in the trailer. Nope.. it's connected somehow imo.

Actually, if any of that turns out to be true I'd be less likely to go see this move...that whole theory and any involving Slusho sound pretty silly if you ask me.

Mysterious ingredients and mutation have been a theme since the first day Slusho.jp went up.
The latest trailer has people with a mysterious illness and swelling.
I don't really know how they could make this more obvious.

slusho/special ingredient is pivotal to the storyline in my view.
They wouldn't be drilling if there was no special ingredient, no ingredient no slusho. Drilling wakes the monster.

Where is there 100% concrete evidence that Drilling wakes the monster? Where is there 100% concrete evidence that the girl is actually exploding/mutating?
there isnt any. Theres hardly any concrete evidence for anything, All we can do is speculate...
I personally think it'd be cheesy if Slusho was "pivotal to the storyline." I guess we will see on 1/18/08 wont we?

There's a difference between being pivotal to the STORYLINE and pivotal to the MOVIE.
Personally, I don't think it will come up in the movie, and if it does there won't be a direct correlation. The only reason it might come up in the movie is to establish it as a "cultural phenomenon".

No worries. I'm not saying Slusho isnt related to the backstory, but I doubt Slusho has major parts in the actual film, such as the "Exploding woman." This is a horror movie, and for some reason, drinking too much Slusho doesnt scare me as much as if the monster had caused that scene by itself.

Exactly. Think of it like this, ordinary people go to cinema, see monster film, enjoy it, but probably don't get an explanation of where it came from (other than maybe a very brief one). Us lot got to cinema, see monster movie, but we know the backstory. Hopefully a little of the backstory will be incorporated into the film as a nod to all the followers of the ARG. IE some mention of Slusho! or Tagruato etc.
Think about it like this, if Tagruato didn't awaken/irritate the monster with its drilling (or something else it's been doing), and the secret ingredient in Slusho! also has no connection, then what would be point of sending all the ARG fans to these websites? What would be point on wasting money setting them up?
