[NEED HELP] Could someone run a pic through photoshop???

Was rewatching the preview a min ago. Had the file running alongside my browser, which of course is still on the cloverfield site. Interestingly enough, when the shot of the SOL appears right near the end of the trailer, it does NOT appear to have the same damage from the front side as the posters/promo SOL does.

If someone could lighten up a screen grab and see whether the left shoulder is missing a.l.a. the promo shots, it would go a lot towards proving a point someone made in an earlier post somewhere: Promo material is not always accurate to the movie.

We're thinking the monster has to have three claws because the promo posters show three claw marks...we think it might be low and squat because of the building damage...etc...

Might, I say might not be true.

I am away from home for the next week, and don't have my tower and programs to run this through, but if someone has a few moments...

Thanks.

Oh, I think he means the SoL scene near the end of the trailer, not the zoomed-in Tagruato file or w/e.

Is this the shot you were talking about?

I couldn't get anything better than this, and it's pretty inconclusive. The shoulder may be there, may not be.

Edit: Of course, as pointed out by cloverfieldclues.com, the fact it is night is enough to show marketing != movie

Plus as we know, the poster doesn't automatically accurately reflect the events of the film.

No, but the damage should be the same

The wave hitting the city in the poster for The Day After Tomorrow came from a completely different angle when compared to the scenes in the film, they presumably gave the poster artist a vague idea of the damage done to the statue and he also worked in his own interpretation.

It isn't really that major an inaccuracy.

My point exactly. We're so caught up in trying to fit the monster into a certain category based upon the shape of the damage to the buildings and the clawmarks on the SOL that we need to give it certain characteristics to that frame of reference as we dissect the 6 frames in the preview.

All I am saying (and trying to prove) is that everyone who says it has to
a. have a low center of gravity;
b. have three fingered claws;
c. more than two legs;
etc...
could be totally and completely off base.

And in retrospect, I have no idea why I am trying to prove that, other than I am an ENTP on the Myers-Briggs scale and I like to argue and be right. Smile

No, it was posted on another forum, by an in-game character named 5pancakes.

I have to say im with you about the accuracy of movie posters, . I remember plenty of times in the past where something on a poster was totally different than what was in the movie. Hell, even trailers can be totally misleading sometimes. Sometimes scenes are worked together with different dialogue dubbed over from what will eventually be there in the actual movie. Just think you cant put all your stock in things being the way its portrayed before the movie comes out. Remember alot of posters and trailers are put out before the final edit of the movie is done. so things can change
