That;s true too. I like the thought only because it ensures more action; I.E. Military men shooting the shit out of the little ones. Not to say the big one wont make tons of action in its self. But know Rob and them go to lower ground. I just want to see them talking to each other in the subway for 15 minutes and all you hear is some random rawrs every now and then.

It seems more likely to me, that the monsters would be smaller ones. Transformed people. Who have given birth to or been converted by the Slusho ingrediant, seabed's nectar.

The one scene in the trailer that made me thing "huh.. are there smaller monsters?"... was the one where 3 are in a park or something. They say "quiet, did you hear something.." and then the next is him yelling "run, run!" But you hear no large monster... so what are they running from?

I didn't even read what the OP wrote because as soon as i see "imdb" i overlook it.
That being said, what if we are to assume that these things are bursting forth from people marlena-style and it is one of THESE that makes the roar heard in the trailer. It would be these roars that clues big-momma-lion-cthuhlu from the deep to come to shore...like a baby's cry.
I don't believe that theory myself, just trying to think of crazy ass options since i'm guessing JJ has something up his sleeve for why this thing is attacking NYC of all places.

He also says "if you're watching this, you know more than I do," so it's pretty clear he doesn't know squat.

[SPEC] Little monsters = Whale Louse

I thought I read it on here, but couldn't find it.

I think it would make sense that this giant sea monster would have ginormous "whale louse" parasitically attached.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whale_louse

They do cause "minor skin irritation," maybe that translates into exploding humans, once you scale them up. Wink

Yeah, during that scene you hear a weird clicking sound that is definitely not the big monster. It almost sounds insect like. Like some giant flying bug. So I guess that sound always solidified the small monster theory for me.

Also, has anybody else thought it was weird that the clicking sound is not one of the main things people are looking at right now? When I first watched the trailer that was the main thing that hit me.

Monster Zombie Flic heh

Id have to agree that there is definitly something more than just the big monster. Now wether it is more smaller monsters running around or mutated humand or little hatchlings .. no one can be cerctain. Perhaps its like the title of this reply.

The Monster attacks, people get hurt, killed and infected (not nessesarily in that order) The the infected ones turn into some kind of zimbie thing that chases other people around.

lol I dunno but it fits, I can't wait to see for sure Very Happy

One theory I haven't heard people mention yet is that perhaps, in typical videogame fashion, the monster is like a multi-layered boss fight. The monster is a collective organism, and hitting it just creates little monsterettes when pieces fall off. It's like a piņata...only with less candy and more dying.

Seeing how unlikely and ridiculous my idea is, I like the whole whale louse thing. Only problem is that I think it was first started by that fanart of the whale monster. Maybe another parasite...?
