Welcome fafding B4u!
I haven't heard anything back. I assume that means I'm UNWORTHY to be a spy! Maybe because I said I wouldn't obey orders? Perhaps someone who hasn't emailed them yet should email them as a patsy...

My answer to the "would you follow orders" question was a simple "Sure." And I haven't heard back either.

Ooh, I didn't see that c page before! I found the following at http://greatreporter.com/mambo/content/view/1572/1/:
Quote:

Translated into simple English, this sentence might read, "Over all, we shouldn't waste our time translating normal words into ugly phrases, as Basic English does. For example, Basic uses 'put up with' to mean 'tolerate,' and 'put at a loss' to mean 'bewilder.' "

Ironical, no? Rolling Eyes

Quote:
"Above all, we cannot play ducks and drakes with a native battery of idioms which prescribes egregious collocations of vocables as the Basic put up with for tolerate , or put at a loss for bewilder. " Professor Lancelot Hogben (Interglossa )

So, the quote is sttributed to this Hogden guy and the "ducks and drakes" reference seems to be referring to a british game:

Quote:
Overeducated zoologist and statistician Lancelot Hogben popularized mathematics and developed his own language: Interglossa. Perhaps he should have first mastered English. A British name, Ducks and drakes is a game of skipping stones across the water. The most skips wins. The first person throwing is the duck, the second the drake. But knowing this won't help you understand Hogben's paragraph.

I tried seeing if "interglossa" went anywhere because it sounded like a classic ARG clue... but, nope.

I gotta admit, this is gotten very frustrating because it seems that there is honestly no rhyme or reason to where this is going. We haven't really used clues to find any new pages in this game, all we've done is just find the pages a-o and 1-3 by hit and miss tactics. None of the actual "clues" have led to anywhere new Sad

Could this game have been abandoned by the PM? Certainly seems that way.

Edit: I noticed though, that the only pattern that seems to be present use of undecipherable clues... as the quote says above, knowing the ducks and drakes referrence doesn't help the reader understand the passage. In this same respect, knowing the "Voynich" clue doesn't help decipher it either. It's like we're being shown an exercise in futility. Given these clues to rack our minds even though there's no actual answer... well, that's my take on this whole mess so far Wink

Another Edit: Just like the quote from page "d" the "theory" page:
Quote:
There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

This quote is attributed to Douglas Adams. He's well known for his nonsensical fun "Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy" which simply seems like another clue to there not being an answer at all... with such inventions like the "Improbability Drive" or the answer to everything in the universe being 42. It seems like the PM may just be sitting back having fun watching everyone run around looking for clues that don't really exist.

From what I've seen of ARGs, while playing a game, you begin to pick up certain themes that may be arising from the clues given as you go further down the rabbit hole. It seems like the theme I'm sensing is... "This is NOT a GAME" which is an ARG catch phrase in the first place but possibly the PM is actually using it literally. As in, it really isn't a game and we're just spinning our wheels for nothing.

here's the image from page "e"

I don't know what it is... I also don't know where to locate it or even how I would go about trying. Since the filename was changed, you don't get a clue there either.

Anybody else feeling my theory is getting to sound more and more likely?

Edit: Oh, and sorry for the double post

My theory is that there is a group of Indigo Children running the nxnfun site. Just from reading the background info Indigo kids, we can expect them to be very smart, rather smartass, not enamored of authority figures or grownups, and fond of games. So they'll enjoy messing with us to show off, if nothing else. IMO this could all be very much IC for them.

On the other hand, it could also be that the PM has abandoned it, which I'd hate to see because it appears a lot of work went into it up to this point. I'd still like to think they're preparing something for us, but only time will tell.

In the meantime, it does seem that they have gone back and changed certain pages at some point, so it might not be a waste of time to recheck them. There's also the LJ of the "real" nxnfun and his mystery community (which I've applied to join).

EDIT! I'm in! nxnfun's LJ community has 3 entries, all by her nxnfun, but all were done at the end of October. At least now we know somebody is watching the LJ comm and let me in. They also have a 2nd userpic which I didn't notice before.

Well, I'm in. (You poor bastards.)
Sent my info in, waiting on a reply. Some of what I said is completely true, some is an outright fabrication, some is padded. Let ye who has not padded thine own resume at least once cast the first stone.

1. Daniel <removed>
2. <removed>
Roswell, New Mexico, 88203. Living with grandparents and mother due to
lack of job.
3. 575-<removed> (Area code may still be 505, they're changing it.)
4. I'm a trained martial artist, very plain looking, so I can hide in
a crowd of two, good with math, relatively good with puzzles, am
learning the art of locksmithing, and thus lockpicking, very good at
reading emotions and picking out lies, and can fire a two inch
grouping with a Taurus .45 semi-auto with a 3 1/4 inch barrel at 30
yards. Also, if ever there's somthing I cannot solve myself, I'm
friends with an accomplished grey hat hacker, a trained psychiatrist,
multiple codebreakers, and various other multitalented people who are,
essentially, at my beck and call.
I'm also rather good at manipulating people, can you tell? (I'm playing the part of 'cocky jerk'. Why not, I figure. - ed.)
5. Futaba.
6. I wouldn't have applied if I wasn't willing. Yes, of course.

Hi everyone, I'm brand new at this ARG thing so... whatever. I'm having a great time getting into this!

Perusing the posts I've noticed that no one has recieved an email after sending in their information. Weird. I got my response quite promptly:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
There is a psychic known only as The Illustrator. She draws that whichcomes to her. She has been drawing things to do with us, and withNxnfun. She has illustrated what Nxnfun would look like, in The Illustrator'sart style of choice. http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff25/theillustrator/nxnfun.png Also remember that our site is living and breathing.

I think I'm stuck. Trying to get accepted into the LJ Community.

EDIT: Oh! And as for thoughts that this has been abandoned by the PM... I just recieved a personalized response from the IC to one of my email inquires.

Here's the message back and forth, in reverse chronological order:

Ask why all you want. You will not always receive an answer. I jus emailed nxnfun.

Holy buttsex, batman!

Recieved this email six hours ago.

We don't have time to be writing emails. Most of us are getting jobs

working on more content for the website. Have you checked recently?
Check often.

Alright. So I've just checked my e-mail and received this...

Quote:
I must go, we are being called into a meeting. I really appreciate
speaking with you... I hope to do this more. Each of us are assigned
different jobs every day, in this colony of ours. Tomorrow I think I
may have to help cook, which is never any fun! They always just make
me toss salads. =(

Speak to you soon! I will talk to our elder about maybe putting me on
technology duty full time.

Sincerely,
Mliss

Naturally, I googled the name "Mliss" and it seems it's commonly used as an abbreviation for Melissa, although I'm sure there could be something deeper. Anyhoo, this seems to be taking off to a grand start. I'm going to keep checking the website if that's another tip. They also told me to wait.

This is an ongoing email conversation started before the whole jobs thing:

You should have seen in the newspapers that your United States
President is ridding us of paper money. She is one of us, here to

No, we are paying you in enlightenment. We are paying you with the
opportunity to move up this ladder and become more than a drone.

Ooh, upward mobility. I like it.

We should have seen this in the papers? Female president? Er?

That photobucket album that Shallow Violet posted has the same pics that are in nxnfun's LJ community. So you're not missing much yet.

Replies to my email: The first email I sent (at the bottom) was when we decoded the email address. I got an immediate autoreply with the "application" questions, but I guess they went back and did a real reply too, because I got both of the below replies yesterday.

It's gonna be a pain in the ass checking every page on their site all the time. I hope we get something more specific soon.

Title: It's getting hard...

To know who is and is not reliable.

The Illustrator is back up, everyone. She has been working on some drawings. Remember, though, that, as always, she is neutral. She will neither favor us nor the Children. I will fill you in when she has finished something

Title: The first thing drawn...
Date: Oct. 29, 2007 (12:12 am)

The Illustrator decided to start with me. She has never met me, but somehow has visions about me. She has visions about all of us. That is why she draws us.

(The 2 drawings of nxnfun are posted here.)

Title: More art
Date: Oct. 30, 2007 (12:12 am)

This one is of Johari.

(Johari drawing posted here)

Note that the entries are posted on 3 consecutive days in October (just before Halloween), all at 12:12 am.
