JJ said that 'we need our own monster', and implies it will be an original one - but he never said it would be a totally original one. I don't think anyone means to say that a thing growing inside her has to be an alien.

I think JJ more meant that his monster would be original in the sense that it's not one we've all seen and has been named before. If his work was going to be 100% original, he probably wouldn't do the usual 'monster attacks major city' thing, wouldn't necessarily have the usual military response, and wouldn't have an 'evil corporation' involved. These have all been done before, of course.

My view is that the monster was some sort of sea creature which drank the nectar and grew and grew and grew...

It's probably thousands, if not millions of years old.

You know that 'nectar' was the drink of the gods?

From the Wikipedia page on "nectar":

"Etymology

Nectar is derived from Latin nectar "drink of the gods," which in turn has its origins in the Greek word νέκταρ (néktar), presumed to be a compound of the elements nek- "death" and -tar "overcoming." The earliest recorded use of its current meaning, "sweet liquid in flowers", dates back to 1609.[1]"

The word nectar was also interchangeable with the word ambrosia, which in Homer's writings was the food of the gods, but in others, their roles were reverse.

Ambrosia/Nectar is supposed to grant immortality.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ambrosia

Slusho! does not make people explode, whatever the monster is makes people explode. I'm thinking that the picture of the jellyfish is a hint to the monster's toxic nature.

Edit:

Even better:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amrita

"Amrit features in the Samudra manthan, where the gods, because of a curse from the sage Durvasa, begin to lose their immortality. With the help of the asuras (demons), they churned the sea in order to find the nectar of immortality, amrit. After drinking it, the gods regained their immortality and defeated the demons."

The whole point of Slusho is that there's something sinister in it that changes people. It's in the story section and the Slusho site and on the corporate sites.

It's nothing sinister, they've told us what it is. None of the changes recorded have been bad have they? Even the change reported in the Ravaille thing was positive, an 85 year old woman lifted something that she was obviously not supposed to be able to lift.

In the kids baseball story the other team was afraid to face the pitcher who had drunk Slusho because he was so violently throwing the ball.

I don't

I mean

wow.

So what you're saying is that at this point you'd chug a bunch of Slusho, so you can share Noriko's dream and become a small whale?

I, personally, would pass on the Slusho. Call me crazy.

You're crazy.

There is no evidence that Slusho! is bad for you.

In fact, there is evidence to the contrary, that Slusho! is in fact good for you.

Nobody has died from drinking Slusho! in Japan have they?

Slusho! is not actually real, so nobody can actually die from it.

I think they meant nobody has died from it in the 'in-universe' sense, or we'd be seeing that reported via some IG means. The Ravaille Reasearch Center's report does not state as much in as much as we've seen - but it's possible the full report does say so.

Sarcasm on the internet sucks, eh Euchre?

It's not nice, it's often mistaken and you bring nothing by using it.

sharply ironical taunt; sneering or cutting remark

When really i just used wit

the keen perception and cleverly apt expression of those connections between ideas that awaken amusement and pleasure

Well either you meant in as a mocking comment and it is sarcasm or you didn't and it isn't.
