[TRAILHEAD] OpDyla
Who's Aphid?

Well, an--ahem--anonymous tip led me to emailing the following person:

OpDylaSPLATgmail.com

Our correspondence thus far (in chronological order):

Rekidk wrote:
OpDyla,

A friend sent me this email address. Mind telling me what's going on?

Also, do you know OpAphid? It seems like you two might be good friends. And Aphid and I go WAY back. Wink

P.S: Thou doesn't know of OpAphid

Darn. I guess my LonelySkills won't come in handy for this one.

Rekidk wrote:
Test? I'm ready, so long as it's not in Spanish.

Which was totally true.

OpDyla wrote:

And at this point I realized that I had Spanish homework due on Tuesday.

Rekidk wrote:
Well, I suppose I could brush up on my Espaņol skills.

And now I'm waiting for a response. You should all email for a test from OpDyla, too; maybe we can all share answers and the jocks can call it "collaboration." Wink

Here is my correspondance with OpDyla.

An Edgar Allen Poe inspired ARG? Awesome!

To which I replied...

Wasn't it E.A. Poe who first called sleep "those little slices of death?" Do you relate a great deal to Mr. Poe? Do you also hate sleep? Why?

Doug

So we'll see where this goes...

EDIT: It's a nice looking site, by the way. Looks like we may be dealing with a big-deal ARG here.

Re: OpDyla

I got the morse code email, too. Good solves, RatHead!

I was thinking this, too. To those who don't follow LG15 or OpAphid, APHID stood for Analyze, Protect, Hinder, Infiltrate, Destroy. It was an ordering of steps used on their targets. The letters were discovered one-at-a-time via five videos with five puzzles.

---

For those who don't know, www.intrepidbiotech.com was a part of Cathy's Book, a book with ARG-ish extensions (phone messages, websites, and an evidence packet to explore). Cathy's Book was created by 42entertainment.

I can't recall exactly what Intrepid Biotech's role was in the book, but (IIRC) Victor, Cathy's former boyfriend, was working with them. Victor had some sort of disease where he could not die; each generation, he would take on a new persona to keep others from discovering his secret.

I guess that our OpDyla suffers from the same disease.

---

This does beg the question: is this an unofficial follow-up to Cathy's Book? I don't know. However, www.intrepidbiotech.com is probably not going to provide us with many clues, as it is not under the control of our PM. (I'm assuming that 42entertainment isn't behind this game--they tend to launch their games in a big, sneaky way.)

I'm liking all of these ARG references: OpAphid, Cathy's Book, etc. Smile

So what do ya think, folks? Is this some kind of self-refferential post-modern ARG?

Oh, another email. It appears this is a Cathy's Book follow-up, although I tend to agree that it may be unofficial. I asked Dyla what was up with Intrepid Biotech, and this is what I recieved:

Quote:
Carla's Dead. P'eng Lai Pharmaceuticals, Help The Elders Live longer. I'm a secret agent in Intrepid Biotech. I specialize in the Dream department of The Order.

Sent my email for this one. Since Red Monday is over, I find myself with some time on my hands.

It appears that this is tying LG15/OpAphid and Cathy's Book together.

Carla: character in Cathy's Book. She was killed.
The Elders: these evil guys in LG15 who use the blood of special girls to live longer.
Intrepid Biotech: Victor works with 'em, I think.
The Order: organization in LG15 that encompasses OpAphid, the Hymn of One (a religious recruiting branch), the Elders, the Shadows (bodyguard/thugs), and the Watchers (that protect the special girls).

So does that mean that Intrepid Biotech is another branch within the Order in this game?

That site is 7 kinds of strange. It has a forum, a youtube video under news. It has an instant messenger and an email option. If I wasn't sure this was an ARG I'd just think this is just some random website.

That means we have a YouTube, a forum, a wiki, and a homepage.
