I highly doubt that there are small creatures due to the fact Rob says "that aprox. 7 hours ago Something attacked the city." most likely if there were more then 1 he would have said or made it sound like it at least.

I think that whatever the result of our bursting young woman might be could easily fit into the description of "small creature."

Oh, something else to note about that sound I uploaded.
You'll notice it's stereo and that the source moves from side to side a bit. The channels I used were the 'surround' channels, which are meant to originate from and sound like they are from directly beside to behind you.

You assume we are making grand guesses about how exactly the scene will play out. Some of us just would like to figure out exactly what we really are hearing.

As to your tone, as the moderators say here...
"Play Nice"
Very Happy

The noise kinda reminds me of how the aliens communicated in "Signs" when the kid hears them on his little radio. Anybody else hear the similarity?

Yes, that's what I first thought of also. Or it could be a type of radar, like bats, to find prey. but that's just my speculation, nothing to back it up.

Regarding the strange fluttering noise, we shouldn't rule out the possibility that it's just something added for the trailer.

Remember, the trailer likely had several audio mix sessions before hitting the screen, and editors are going to add sound effects that seem to go with the action, even if they're a little exaggerated. These audio editors aren't necessarily part of the real production. Yes, it would need to be approved by someone who is, but there's still a chance that a few unrelated SFX would make it through for the sake of a dramatic trailer.

By the same token, I don't think we're going to hear such an obvious "splurt" in the exploding woman scene...doesn't seem like something a guy with a video camera would pick up so well.

The word you're looking for is, scuttle.

It's a term for the way crabs walk (if you didn't know).

Just to add to this...do you really think the trailer was run in the chronological order of events happening in the film?
Probably not.
Scenes may have been taken from here and there in the film...
and made into a trailer.
Maybe at one point Rob (& his crew)
have no idea what's going on...
but then later discover something else.
If that makes any sense.

I'm not defending the little "monsters" theory.
Just wanted to throw that out there.
But, the sound is very peculiar...
and my guess is they just didn't throw it in for nothing.
It sparks more curiosity.

The speculation will never end until the movie is finally out.

The only thing that would truly be disappointing to me
would be if the movie is a total waste of time (and money)
and is a complete failure.
Other than that, I'd be alright with knowing I was wrong.
It's just a movie. lol.

Aren't they walking down a subway tunnel? It could be a train!

I've just been meticulously going over the trailer, and referencing the teaser.
The trailer is most definitely NOT in chronological order, although there ARE things that allow you to put almost all of the scenes with known characters into chronological order.
