madmad, u won the grand prize? Wow, congrats!!
I am phase 3 laptop winner and get a keepsake box from Adelers with the discription of 3 gems , the Civil War Bullet, and the Roman coin ! Cool huh?? Through the generosity of corporations and individuals, fabulous educational and technological prizes await the winners of the treasure hunt. Prizes will include iPods, computers, digital cameras, and more.
Prizes are being awarded in three phases. During phase one, winners were drawn from the classroom entries. During phase two, winners will be drawn from the individual entries. During phase three, another 12 winners will be drawn -- one for each chapter -- along with a grand prize winner. As with phase two, phase three's winners come entirely from the individual entrants.
Below are the prizes for each phase. For phase three, each winner will also receive three valuable gems, an authentic Civil War bullet and an ancient Roman coin -- all in a keepsake box donated by Adeler Jewelers.
For the ThanksUSA 2007 grand prize, Adeler Jewelers has once again put the most tangible treasure into our treasure hunt.

The ThanksUSA 2006 grand prize included this treasure chest
Representing our diverse Nation and shared history in vivid color is a one-of-a-kind collection. It has luminous pearl strands, coins excavated from shipwrecks, pins and pendants; bracelets and rings adorned with vibrant gemstones including rubies, sapphires, emeralds, amethysts, garnets and citrines; and more -- including over 200 carats of genuine faceted gems. Close your eyes and imagine a genuine treasure chest abounding with jewels and precious metals; and -- with this amazing prize valued at over $25,000 -- you will realize that your dreams have come true.

If you start a thread for this, please be sure to start it in the "timewasters" category. This treasure hunt is a game, not an ARG & would best fit in that category Smile

OK, I started a thread in the Timewaster's category as you suggested. It is labled

"ThanksUSA"
"Game madmad59 suggestion"

I wanted to try it - not sure if I will stick with it yet, but it does look like lots of fun and interesting too.

thanksusa.org

FYI-I am still checking in here, but am also checking thanskusa.org. It is a contest that involves hunting the web for answers based on USA history. It was started by 2 9-year-olds who liked the movie "National Treasure" and who also wanted to do something for the families of our troops. I talked w/one of the developers and they are hoping for a big turnout. This is their 2nd year, I think. Give it a look! And I hope we can all follow each other around.
