[Question] What are they running from in the park?

Calling it a park for lack of a better idea of where they are. But later in the trailer, 3 of them are walking in a dark area, assuming Central Park. One says to be quiet.. did you hear something? And flash to what I guess is just after, the guy is yelling "run, run!" and they are fleeing... from what?

I doubt it's the creature. You certainly wouldn't need to be quiet to hear a skyscraper sized creature sneaking up on you.

So what are they running from? The military? The hazmat crews? Tagruato employees? Slusho mini monsters? Any guesses?

Just posting this because I think there is quite a bit more plot than a big monster trashes NYC. There is more than one "bad guy," and they are fleeing from more than one adversary.

Yes, we do hear something in the background, to be honest it sounds like some sort of fluttering insect, which I know we've discussed somewhere around here. Then we see them turn towards the camera and start to run like hell.

I doubt its hazmat teams, or employees, or military. None of those would make insect sounds and whatnot. Imo there has to be some sort of smaller biological thing that comes with the creature.

Isnt there a picture floating around out there where Marlena? and someone are trying to hold a metal door shut?

My $.02

This is one of the scenes in the trailer that suggests there's more than just the big monster. Other things would tend to support that there's some kind of smaller creature associated with the big monster. I extracted the sounds they are apparently listening to in this post, and it doesn't sound like a person coming after them. I'd also note the sound comes from more than one direction and suggests that whatever is making it could be flying. If what Red Walrus posted in this thread has any credibility, it could be that the big monster isn't shedding or implanting what becomes the other creatures, but is giving off the same sort of mutagenic substance that made it what it is - thus mutating other things as it goes into other as yet smaller monsters. Could also explain why there's a potential for a global impact.

Oh and btw, I think they are in the subway when they beat feet.

[kidding]Once again, Euchre makes us all look stupid in comparison, with his all too plausible in-depth analysis and links to other smart posts[/kidding]

Good work, once again I am enlightened by the knowledge of Euchre!

I remember reading that these shots occur underground in the subway system. What they are running from is anyone's guess. I want to think it's a mini-monster or grumpy pants parasite, but that sound might be natural to the subway and the party is just understandably panicky...

I have watched that part many times and i think it kinda sounds like a crab going across the concrete floor. But i guess only time will tell what it is. It kinda reminds me of the spiders walking in The Mist.

"What are they running from in the park?"

I think its a tunnel. Perhaps the subway.
But, I do think something is chasing them...
its just not the something that attacked the entire city.
I wish I knew. At this point everyone does.

This is what I think is going on, (I know it's been obvious to everyone else Smile ) It looks like something is chasing them and they head down the stairs to the subway and a missile strike from a jet gets whatever is chasing them(or it was intended to hit them).
Hud gets knocked down from the blast(if there was a monster there Rob would be worried about that instead of Hud). Take another look at the trailer and see if you agree.

Yup,
If you look closely in the 'Hud?, Hud!!' scene, you see a little chunk of rock rolling across the floor.

Don't know if it's a missile strike though, looks like another fireball like the ones at the beginning to me. I think they go into the subway to avoid whatever is falling from the sky, and they feel safe once they're underground.

In case any of you don't realize it, the 'Hud falling' shot is the same one shown from a different angle in the turnstyle shot of Rob and Marlena in the publicity shots.
