[SPEC] The rest of the party goers?

Okay...

I forgot who the party was for - the guy talking to the camera in the new trailer says they found the camera.

Is it possible the rest ran off to elsewhere, or got smashed by the kaiju?

Considering the camera is found in Central Park being referred to as 'formerly known as' and has an incident site number, we can fairly well figure that most if not all people in the party (and the movie for that matter) are either monster poop or worm food.

That and the copter crash, and the camera operator knocked down the stairs (possibly dying) when the US Army on the streets gets bitchslapped.

Hmm... that brings up a new possibility. I was thinking they nuked NYC, but the camera wouldn't survive the blast (unless the visual static is the damage taken)...

So, what is up with the different guys at the door when Rob first walks into the party and gets "surprise!!"'d?? In the teaser, it's a guy w/short hair and a striped button-down shirt, holding up a camera. In the official trailer, there's just a dude with curly hair smiling behind Rob, no camera.

Also, the hallway they are walking in from looks different - in the teaser, you can see a brick wall and a curtain or firehose behind Rob when he walks into the party. There's a white box on the wall to the left of the door (inside the room), and we see that same box in the official trailer, so it's the same door. But, in the official trailer, there's a white wall, not a brick wall, behind Rob and there looks to be rolled up tubes of wax paper behind the door - ParaFun maybe?

The real question, though, is WHY? From a movie-making point of view, why would that happen? Why shoot different scenes of the party, and change them in the trailers? Any ideas?

If this has been discussed at length somewhere else, sorry - please direct me to the thread. I looked, but there are so many threads...

EDIT: I also just noticed that $11 guy's beard/goatee is cleaner in the official trailer. In the very beginning of the official trailer, you can see him very clearly - compare that to the very last shot in the teaser ('this is going to be the best night ever') - in the teaser, his beard goes along his whole jawline; in the official trailer, it's a goatee - his jawline is clean-shaven. ???

im only guessing its because they decided to re-shoot some scenes at a later time and maybe do some small re-casting jobs on the side. although you never know i guess. we will just have to wait and see when the movie comes out.

reshoot

I might get in trouble for this because I have posted this link before, but I put both the teaser and the trailer in a time line...just to compare the two. You can see it here...

The rolls of wax paper outside the door look to be a firehose, I think.

The apartment is probably a set in that case. Where you see a door on a room set, there's often nothing beyond it and if there needs to be temporary panels are put there. This allows for less set building and for camera shots to be easily set up looking in from that doorway. It's possible they either goofed and grabbed just any random panel or couldn't get the panel they used in the teaser shots when they reshot the scenes for the trailers. It would seem they wanted the firehose there, but obviously from other things absolute continuity was either not so important to them or not possible.

Agreed - and, in any other movie, it wouldn't even warrant mention. But, there were reports that J.J. Abrams cut the teaser himself, which is apparently very rare, if not unheard of, in the movie biz (for the producer or director to personally put together the trailer). The impression was that it was all carefully put together. And, now, there's all kinds of continuity mistakes in the official trailer. I guess the most reasonable conclusion is that it just couldn't be helped - they needed to shoot more party scenes, and maybe the actor holding the camera in the teaser just wasn't available. And, the sets - who cares, right? I only mention it because they knew we were pouring over the teaser, and if J.J. cut the teaser himself... the changes made stand out, and they knew they would, so maybe those points of discontinuity are there to grab our attention. Grab our attention for what? I dunno. It probably means nothing - just seemed odd, given the initial impression of a carefully constructed teaser.

Sorry to Double Post -

Someone go to the Apple site where the trailers are - the Apple Trailer 1-18-08 site. I've been trying to access it, and it says it aint there anymore.

"That's what I'm trying to tell you, kid. It aint there. It's been totally blown away."

Yeah, I get that too.

EDIT: Either back now, or the way I found it this time was different from how I did it last time

other party goers after runing around the stairs to get outside of the apartments are so dizzy that they run towards the monster and get bowled over by a big stone head
