This may or may not be helpful. I broke it into threes, but didn't really get anywhere, and don't have the time to delve further.

I dropped the nucleic acid sequence into it, but I didn't get anything out of it on the other side. Its possible that you'll have to take the amino acid sequence and translate that into some protein and maybe pick a letter from each one (seeing as they appear to be broken into "sentences"), but that may be reaching.

for that: put the translated (amino acid sequence) into the "query" frame. I'd go further into details but I already see your eyeballs glazing over.

Scrappy
I tried making proteins too. By hand. I am now blind for the rest of the weekend.

But I do have another idea. Re: Genetic algorithms and if anyone solves this over the weekend, please post it here with spoilers. Maybe my eyesight will return by then.

Happy July 4th. Hmm, maybe the Restorers need a special celebration this weekend but as I am blind-- and hung over from the drinkering during that last Yankees-Red Sox game (5-4 13 innings)-- it's going to have to wait.

Rose

Edit - genetic algorithms, which are so beyond me that I can't wrap my brain around them, are discussed in an Amboy Monthly story by Melody

http://www.amboymonthly.com/news.htm

from June 28th.

Solved

Worked along similar lines, the key was that each resulting pair stands for one letter.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Ms Heller, I am not about to go into any details but I have some information I know would interest your readers. The problem is, I do not want to be found out for giving you this info so I want you to look in Oregon Live and view the topics until you find my message. You will know from there. P.S. Please know you have my condolences on the deaths of your friends as I feel this new development may be more heartbreaking.
