My guess is this ganu character is starting to figure out what he's getting himself/the world into...and is now finding means to protect himself from being harmed...by finding out what makes these beings immune to the ingredient, that is if Ganu himself is not immune to the ingrediant, but by doing tests and several types of experiments in order to find an antidote for himself?

i agree. i was thinking that if ganu discovered the ingredient and while he was studying it.(before he had the whale vision) he purposely/accidentily (you pick) ingested the ingredient in its purest form, then that night had a vision, maybe of the monster or something similar and it put a genetic suggestion in him to spread the ingredient.

I don't think Ganu would use the monster to "destroy his enemies!" It's a pretty crude tool, no? Besides, it's hardly fair to single out the U.S. and NYC before we even had a chance to try Slusho! (we would've LOVED it!)

I like the idea of Ganu doing all this testing 'on the fly' because he's gotten into something that's over his head or out of his control - trying to reverse something or protect against something. That would mean he's up against the clock, in some way, and so it would explain his wildly unethical use of Slusho! to conduct testing. As to what he's trying to prevent - maybe it's Grumpypants itself (or himself, or herself, as the case may be).

But, that would mean they know where the thing is - why not just kill it? If they made it in a lab, then its presumably under control, so they can kill it if they have to. If it's out of control, then doing research on dogs & Slusho! isn't going to stop it. Alternatively, if it's "wild" and is messing with their drilling stations - again, why not just kill it? Why do research on people and dogs, etc.?

What would explain this, though, would be if Ganu himself is somehow 'infected' (as NeoNK1 suggested), or if Noriko is still alive, but horribly infected, mutated, etc. She might even be ol' Grumpypants, but that's a bit of a stretch. Still, it would explain why Ganu is conducting research and breaking all ethical rules along the way - to try to find a way to "cure" himself and/or Noriko. I dunno, though, I'm rambling...

Alot of companies in the USA donate/get involved in local charities and not for profit organizations. Its considered to be a socially responsible and acceptable thing to do. It does not neccessarily mean that Tagruato is... EBIL!!!
