Multimedia Interface?

How many of us can interact through ways other than text?

I have iChat, and enough processor power to do live webcam, or audio communication.

I was wondering about using a medium like that for a game, but I began to wonder about how available it was.

What are people capable of?

Sound cards and microphones, Webcams and such....interesting concept.
Probably not as many people have these compared to cell phones. And most people on dial-up don't have the speed for it. But the internet world is changing fast.

In our home we have the capability. We have turned both on at certain times. It was fun seeing my sister-in-law in a video chat across the country (and no long distance phone charges).

I won't say if it is or is not used for anything else.

At the urging of relatives in India, we got hooked up w/a webcam, mike and Yahoo Messenger. Now we can avoid those pesky overseas phone charges!

Yeah, I wish that'd been available when we lived in Japan. Fax machines were so cutting edge in the early 90's. Laughing Crying or Very sad

haha, vpi.

I have tried:
IRC - of course,
MSN Messenger w/ vid and audio
webcamXP (webcam and broadcasted TV Wink)
....

Interresting idea, taking ARG to another "realtime"-level than just plain text or telephone.

I've always thought one of the coolest things about ARGs is that they prompt people to expand their horizons. I'm sure there are lots and lots of ARG players who learned about crypography, stenography, photoshop, etc, etc, only because of the game.

I guess what I'm saying is that I'll bet that if players are not capable of utilizing a new medium, they will make themselves capable of it for the game (buying a webcam, installing new software, etc). Not everyone of course, but probably a sizable number.
