I guess that confirms the officialness of the synopsis from a few days ago
http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=423294

This also solidifies the fact that we really only have the Slusho 6 as far as the movie is concerned and that Jamie is only a major player in this promotion (if the lack of her presence in the trailer didn't do that already).

EDIT:
"...descends upon the city." Literally or figuratively?

That's what I figured, but the copy clobbers you over the head with everything else.

Click on "ABOUT THE FILM" and it pops up.

I'm on the side of "poor writing". They need to remove that quickly. The trailer is good enough of a sell (for those who like horror/monster/action films. But the description is almost a complete turn-off for me.

Could this be due to the writers guild strike???

Sounds like a description of the movie written by a Paramount exec.

Why put that up there??? there was absolutely no need for that.

It's like a 30-40 word description. How can it be bad writing?

They just wanted to get a general synopsis up, not win a writing contest.

You guys saying it's ruining the movie for you have to lighten up. There are a lot of high-strung people around here. You're tellingm e the synopsis on the official site would change your mind about the movie?

Hmm. I've tried clearing my cache and all that jazz, but I don't see any "ABOUT THE FILM" link at www.cloverfieldmovie.com, nor do I see the synopsis. I must be dense today.

Why do we have to lighten up? It's just our opinion and far from being high-strung.

And they will definitely not win any writing contests from that description of the film. Probably not gain any more interest either.

If it is written as blandly as that, maybe.

I can tell you that I am now less excited for this movie after reading that.

Honestly, it does not spark any additional interest in the movie for me and it has taken away some of the excitement of finding out the mystery behind it.

It's pretty much what we all know already. I'm not gonna hammer Paramount for putting a quick summary up there. As someone mentioned, they weren't writing it for a constest. I guess its mainly for those who couldnt quite figure out what the trailer was exactly about. However, the one thing I do like in that synopsis is the description of how big it is...

Kinda goin slightly off topic here, but that one line got me wondering.

Do you guys think this monster will be bigger then Godzilla? From that one scene in the trailer, with the knocked over building, it sure looks like it is...

I just looked up how tall the Statue of Liberty is for a size comparison. From the ground to the torch is 305 feet. The estimates for how big Godzilla is stop around 300ft... if this monster can make claw marks THAT big on the SoL, the thing has to be at least... 400ft+?

I'm just ignoring it...blockin it outa my mind...it's not real...it's just a figment of my imagination...
There, all better
