What? Portals to alternate dimensions releasing dark gods who wreak havoc upon the face of the Earth?
Huh.
I don't think so.
With all due respect your darkness, quite unlikely but not impossible

Well, young one, sarcasm is easily mistaken for opinion. I was being sarcastic, since I am a dark lord from-...yes, sarcasm.

No opinion from the "thing that should not be" shall be taken lightly...
I was joking too... =)

Note that Cloverfield was the name of an organism Tag was developing, since it resembled them.
However, a wormhole DOES seem likely. There's also the presence of the dark figures when the group flees down a dark hall (there appear to be insectoid figures that flash for a split second).
I don't see any insects...

Neither did I, I remember hearing insect-like clicks at the end of the trailer.

I think he's referring to the silhoette of two people in a hallway with a blue background. It does look weird and insect like, but I think it's just people.
Beth and Rob, possibly.

3 people: Rob, Marlena, and Lily (as seen in the tunnel).
I suppose you could call the New York subway a portal into another world.

That's the exact storyline of 'The Mist'.
I doubt they would rip it off that closely.

Doesn't matter if he is or not.
If a movie comes out right after a movie that had he exact same origin of monster or whatever, people will be pissed. (And people will get sued.)

I have trouble buying into a portal theory, it goes too closely with Lovecraft and I think we've nailed that one into oblivion.

I seriously dont think the portal theory is "JJ" enough, I think if you read the last post on this page http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=21345&start=75 by red walrus, that explanation makes the most logical sense and starts to tie the clues together nicely if not scarily creepy!!
