Choices, Choices...
and the aces said...

I read on one of the various wiki's devoted to SL that the Aces have said that we are to "make a decision we may not want to make" after all the dueces are revealed. I've been pooling theories as to what this might be, and I believe we might have the option of un-silencing those that have been. forgive me if this is a newb-ish way of thinking, but what else could they mean?
any ideas?

also, I've begun re-reading alice in wonderland and can't help but notice all the odd connotations with SL. mayhap all players should be paying the story closer attention?

I wasn't aware of that. And your theory sure sounds like a possibility. One that I wouldn't like to make... I like your idea.

I am currently re-reading Alice in Wonderland. I think we all should. The cards encouraged it.

Possible Choice in Relation to an E-mail
In which Paul reveals an e-mail sent to him just recently by Jane (2H), regarding THE CHOICE

Appetizer- what are the names of the Two of Diamonds and the Two of Spades?

And now for the shocking main course- the e-mail.

The set-up:

On Tue, November 27, 2007 6:30 pm, Paul wrote:
>Hello jane. It's truly a shame they've been silenced- exactly what does
that mean? And why do you need a specific picture? I already know the username for the small door. I find you and all the other Deuces...
interesting.

The answer:

silenced means that they are forbidden to communicate at the moment. they still exist and still receive messages from passengers, but they are unable to respond. they are not allowed to make phone calls to passengers, send emails, join in chat, converse on myspace, etc. it is because they need to be silent when it is someone else's turn to speak.
it is not a form of discipline. it is a form of respect for the card whose time it *is* to speak. being silenced is very different from being folded. once a card is folded, they are gone for good. that hasn't happened... yet.
why do i need a specific picture? because i need to know you found the exact spice box i am looking for. also, it will allow me to give you the password to go with the username for the locked door.

i hope i have been of some help.

welcome to our journey, by the way.

paix et amour,
2h (jane)

FOLDED?

Maybe this is the choice. This will certainly happen somewhere along the way. This introduces "familiar faces may disappear". It could be the End of the Line. Remember- always check source code. Always ask for clarification. You can rarely go wrong.

Jonah told us a while back that we would be faced with a difficult choice further down the road.

I figure it can't be smooth sailing forever.

so everyone still hears from us...it's just like a one way mirror...er, sort of. interesting, that. maybe down the road someone might breach the vow of silence/respect and become folded? or...
this is a morbid little twist...maybe we get to choose if we fold someone?

Jonah (the Two of Clubs) already violated it a few times. It seems like he's a little too eager to interact with us, despite the demands of the Aces. I mentioned that in another thread. I wonder if the "folding" that's being mentioned is going to happen to him because of it. He seems nice enough, but I mean, the guy's asking for it.

Well, the last time he came in our IRC channel as HappyFunBall, he was ordered there by the Aces, so...

Have you considered he may be spying upon us under orders from the Aces?

"Spying" is a scary word. I certainly hope none of the cards are "spying" on us. That sounds awful Korp to me.

Perhaps it was the wrong word to use. He checked in on us, at any rate.

This was said to me regarding the spying issue:

Quote:
he hates the fact that he has to let the
aces know when "certain things" come up, but he is required to. he told me he felt
like a 'snitch' and like had to 'rat out his friends.' but he had to. he
has already raised some eyebrows with the aces lately because of his
antics. he means well, but he fails to think before he acts. that's why
me referring to him as a monkey (and him referring to himself as a monkey,
even) is so appropriate. it's not like he ever means any harm, but he
can, well, do some dumb things from time to time.

certain tings is in quotation marks because it is not a direct quote, that has been edited. I do not believe he is being sent to intentionally spy on us, but there are certain rules he must abide by in certain situations.

Then let's not call it "spying" because it's not... from now on it's should be called... "Keeping us in check". We are human; we make mistakes... (take me for example Wink ) His reports are to keep us in line with what's going on, who may be having trouble... etc. I see nothing wrong with that.

A few others, in addition to myself, kable and silent, have already mentioned that this game is a bit grey even if it was intended to be black and white. It may not be as simple as the righteous deck and evil corp. I think what's coming may be difficult on us as well as Jonah
