[Question][Spec] Confusing Timeline?

Hm. After reading alot of the stuff about the movie I just get the feeling that they made a huge mistake...Possibly intentionally. If the events of the movie take place on January 18th, then how the hell are we supposed to watch it like it's from the future on January 18th? Is there an explanation or is this just a "Shut up and accept it" type of thing? Or is there a reason?

Maybe since the events take place early morning January 18th, the monster only came for a few hours and left at Noon or something. Then we are watching film that was "recovered by the military" earlier that day? That would bring high hopes of an ARG extended past the movie. I mean, maybe they are still trying to figure out the origins of the monster, if and when it will attack again, all of that stuff. They enlisted the help of the general public for some reason? I don't know, yeah, it sounded a lot better in my head. The only thing that wouldn't fit this theory is the pictures....Which since we've found NOTHING in the pictures OR the trailer perhaps we could consider them OOG but IM(In Movie?) They are simply there for OOG promotional reasons and do not follow the traditional timeline of the ARG...Perhaps I am REALLY overthinking things, which I tend to do alot....

Is there an explanation for the original question though? That was all I was planning to post but I had to start speculating (and add an extra tag Razz)

And on a side note, long time follower, first time poster. Woot.
