Puzzles & events

Hello all, I have an assignment for school, to be writing an arg, so far I've only written the background story mostly.

But I am having troubles with making up puzzles, and exciting event, I've been trying to get examples but I suppose I just suck at searching, so maybe anyone here can help me?

They don't have to be original at all, can be anything.

Hope anyone can help me out.

Greetings,

Batsiaan

What exactly are you looking for? Puzzles to use?

Yeah pretty much, only need to write it down on paper, so puzzles who are already used before arent a problem, as said it doesnt have to be original.

So basicly I just need methods.

Hope this is clear enough =)

Seems a pretty ambitious project for someone with no previous experience in ARGs. You are asked to "write" an ARG? In what context? Are you given story parameters? Timeframe (over how long would this ARG play out)? ARGs are not really like books or stories written on static material. They incorporate cross-media and often real-world interactions. Puzzles may be part of the gameplay, but so might character-interaction and a narrative.
Have you read much about ARGs or is this assignment based on recent use of the term "ARG" on popular TV shows (i.e. Numb3rs and CSI:NY)?
Have you checked out SpaceBass' conception about Chaotic Fiction yet?
Have you read any of the archived games here at uF to get an idea of how the games have been presented and played out in the past?

How long do you have to create your assignment? Writing an ARG can take weeks or months (or even a year, if you ask Labfly).

We're hoping to help here, but more information is needed.

Thats strange, tried replying 10 times or so and eventually it looked like I posted with my registered account, but appears it didn't work -_-.

What I was saying though is that we were let pretty loose on this project, so time frame and such you can decide for yourself. I know they're not like stories, and that they use all kinds of media to interact with the player.

I'm letting character interaction mostly out on this one, since I think it goes to deep with the little time I have (roughly 3 weeks, 3 days left of that xD)
I tried to look for space bass's conception but couldn't really find it.
I have read some archived games too, but I cant really make out what the puzzles and events are + I don't have too much time for research since I have 3 school projects running including this one.

Hope this helps, and hope you can help me Very Happy

Greets.

Start with SpaceBass' most recent entry and read back a ways about ARGs.

Visit Imbri's Quickstart guide here: http://www.mirlandano.com/arg-quickstart.html

But, lastly, I don't think you are going to do so well with this project. If you have never played an ARG, and you have so many other school projects, this is not going to be easy. I would suggest going back to your teacher and get a different writing assignment.

I'm curious why the teacher would have assigned something like this, unless they didn't know the depth of the task they were assigning...

but did you say you had 3 weeks to put this together, but are down to just 3 days now?

That's odd, cant seem to post every now and then, anyways I was saying that I had most of it done already, just wanted to know about different puzzles and events used in ARG's, yes our teacher's do know what theyve put us into, and remember it only has to be a concept, not a fully written ARG ready to be played.
