A nice tool for laying out flowcharts for a game

From my experience I've primarily just used forums and wikis with their access limited in the development process. These are good for getting information compiled in an open format for everyone working on the project (especially grassroots because they're very very low cost and/or free). One issue that I've had is not laying out everything in a nice neat format so that everyone can visually see what's happening, going to happen, and why... hence the need for flow charts.

I was trying to get comfortable with the service at www.flowchart.com since it was completely free, but it ran so slow on my computers that I didn't couldn't really do anything on it. So I considered just ordering myself a copy of Visio - that's great and all if I'm the only one I want to work on and edit the flowcharts within my group... being a very low-budget grassroots group right now - Visio for everyone was out of the question.

The best thing that I've found for creating flowcharts is at www.gliffy.com - They host your charts, the user interface is wonderful, your charts are private - but you can allow team members the rights to view AND edit the flowcharts. It does have some cost to it if you're wanting to keep everything private ($35 for 2 years if you sign up for the trial before actually buying the service). You can save as a .jpg a .png or a file compatible with visio. You can, also, download a plugin and use it directly with Confluence for all you confluence using people.

p.s. your team doesn't have to pay anything at all to use the service (to my knowledge) if they are editing/viewing your flowcharts.
