Discussed or undiscussed....
EDIT: Can they roar, or make noises?

Aren't they like...really small? How would they roar?

Plus, I'm pretty sure anything that's big and mutated will roar, no matter what it is.

Red Walrus - I salute you

I just wanted to say that this thread is the best one I've read since this started in July. It's packed with serious thought, but very interesting and backed up with evidence when possible.

I give much applause to the opening post by Red Walrus that was very well crafted, with photos, links, facts, etc.

No has commented on it, but the lines that stuck out to me from the first post was that they rear up 'dinosaur style', are carnivorous, and fast. Tell me those aren't bad attributes for an intense big monster to have.

I don't see how it would fit in the style of film, but they might be able to get some of the evolution of the story done quickly with a montage sequence. Didn't Jurassic Park start off with images that got across the idea of a mosquito full of dinosaur blood getting stuck in tree sap/amber?

Thanx, nice to get some positive feedback.

Like I said most of the "evidence" points to the extremophiles as the secret ingredient not the actual monster, but it is a possiblity. In the end it probably won't look too much like the real thing but there are like 10,000 kinds of Tardigrades alone to roughly base it on.

Remember I'm not just pulling this out of my imagination, Yosida Medical research said it all:

"YMR is a genetic research firm specializing in deep sea bioprospecting. YMR implements Tagruato's advanced exploration technology to study extremophiles found only in the deepest parts of our oceans. The understanding of such organisms that thrive in conditions of extreme pressure, temperature, and toxicity has boundless pharmaceutical and industrial promise. "

After finally bothering to reading your original post, I'd say it sounds spot on. Now I can understand what's so important about the satellite news!
It might not be tardigrades, it could even be something completely fictional, but it's some sort of microscopic lifeform that remains dormant under certain conditions.
How it is involved with the monster's creation is another matter.

I think this is a very well thought out theory. I'm pretty new to this whole enigma, but from I have read think this makes the most sense. Nice Job!

Along those lines, great site! I have been reading up on this like an addict since the 2nd trailer came out & this is hands down the best collection of info on it. Thank you all for enlightening the newbes!

Here is a thought - it's way out there and a scary one.

What technology, exactly, is Bold Futura using to extract the oil from the ocean depths? What if it's not a machine? And what does it run on, to live and work and thrive in those ungodly cold, deep and dark places?

What if it's a mutated extremophile?

What if ALL of the drilling stations are using mutated extremophiles?

That's a pretty interesting idea.

But I think that the mutated kittens and puppies from the animal shelter that the Slusho! Smilers! visited will be more likely.

Just kidding.

I'm not saying this is right but it's interesting, if (with a big IF) they were the smaller monsters it would explain that scuttling sound in the trailer. Also they have a scary way of eating their prey, they have three sylets(like sharp straws) around their mouth which they use to suck up their preys' juices(like slurping a Slusho! Smile )

which makes sense since rob clearly shows three holes through his shirt where the weird blue blood is.

So I was thinking about the Water Bears and remember reading a while back about the fact that they can be frozen or completely dried out and as soon as they are brought back to survivable temperatures and/or rehydrated they come back to life. So assuming the monster is one of these Extremophiles (which I am ONLY doing for the sake of this particular train of thought) I think I have a theory...

If you were an evil japanese corporation experimenting with tardigrades and something went out of control what would you do with said failed trouble experiment. Nothing can really harm these things and the only place they could at least be reigned in would be in a very cold place where they could stay frozen forever. Unfortunately with the advent of BoldFutura's drilling technology the ocean floor is no longer safe. hmm where would a safe place be? How about....SPACE!

Hence the emergency launch of the satellite even though it was stormy. Maybe it was in a last ditch effort to "Ensure our future" lol

I don't know just running with the idea and there are many holes in my theory, but it's as plausible as anything else we've heard so far lol

Smile I dunno Walrus Ive been with you all the way on this, and those three holes in rob's shirt look pretty convincing that he has been attacked by aforementioned tardigrades with the way they eat their prey!
