Yeah, it wasn't a review. It was the actual synopsis/summary for the movie!!111!

One oddity: the second reviewer claims he's been following the viral promotion of the movie,
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
then states that we don't get much backstory on the monster as a negative.
The viral promotion IS the backstory, guy.
Yeah, said same 'reviewer' also got the street the SoL lands on wrong. How can you possibly be following this so well and miss that bit of information?

By watching the trailers, and reading all the viral sites? I don't remember any of them mentioning the street name.
Anyway , Lafeyette St runs parallel close to Broadway, so he's not far off.

Uh, we talked about it being on Broadway on this very site, more than once. It's also stated in the Cloverfield (1-18-0 Despoiler Wiki.
I'm sure it's been discussed elsewhere.

Meh, Most people here think the party scene is on Broadway, when it's clearly filmed some distance away from there.
Mapping the trailer into the exact locations doesn't appeal to everyone, it has to me, but maybe not to someone who's interested in following the ARG.

wait... dont they go downstairs from the party, and wind up on Broadway?
edit to add:
The despoiler even says "some apartment, broadway"
... um... am I confused?

Where's all the fireball craters? Notice the cut just before he leaves the building, where the sound changes.
I could be wrong, but it's definitely filmed somewhere else.
Also, would someone say 'what is it, is it coming this way?' just after a bomb had gone off?
Despoiler Wiki also says they are seen battling the monster in Broadway, but you don't see any tracer fire going towards the monster, so it looks like more clever cutting to me. (Unless they're basing it on the dunkin' donuts sign).

Yes, if they had reason to.

It's assumed that following the descent from the apartment's roof that they emerge as seen in the shot that is certainly established as being on Broadway, although we know it to be actually shot on a stage mockup. I suspect they didn't figure people would be so clever or obsessed as to notice the difference in perspective between the shots. The shots of the soldiers firing on the monster are also on that same Broadway set, but that's almost certainly later. Based on some other shots in the trailer, I suspect that the apartment is indeed meant to be on Broadway, but could also be the short distance away that we know the actual roof shooting location is. The other possibilities involve the Broadway shot being near Lily and Hawk's apartment (if they live separately from Rob). The bodega scenes are also likely to be on Broadway, because of Rob's attire within - he's still in his suit jacket. You can see in one of the stills from the shooting that Rob is also in his jacket on the same Broadway set, behind the car across from where they emerge onto the street. It's apparent that the Broadway location is where they are 'pinned down' for at least a little while until the military shows up.

I'm really awful detecting movie goofs, this observation is quite interesting
I'm sure it has been made in some other thread and blah blah...but good point.
