here's my little analysis .

If you look at the pictures of Marlena she looks like she's putting up quite the fight. She's most likely scared, and in great deal of shock/pain. And im sure the last thing your gonna want, is some strange overly grabby dudes in hazmat suits pulling you somewhere you do not want to go.

So in saying that...
I figure Rob and the others show up at the medical center. In hopes that They will know what is happening to ever more deteriorating Marlena.
The doctors/scientists seeing she's in final stages of infection, rush to get her into co. Yet Marlena is still unaware of what is happening, is still putting up a strong fight, trying to get away. Rob and the others panic in seeing this, probably put up quite the fuss and are escorted out of the facility/room. The soldier outside lets them know "There is nothing else you can do for her" as they ask questions about what is happening to Marlena.

The scientist's manage to get her out of the room, and behind a sheet/tarp (possibly put up as a safe guard, just incase the infected happen to explode while on the way to a proper quarantine. ) Marlena is still struggling and putting up a fight, The scientists are holding her arms, trying to move her along. That's when it happens, her body starts to expand, hazmat dude panics and finally hits marlena, and that when we see him swing and hit her in the face, just as the shot cuts away.

Im sure Im not right at all, but im just trying to put the peices together and figure this out.

I'd put money on him not hitting her, he clearly reaches past her and grabs the guy on the left, then we see the guy on the left turn round.

Expanding starts before the "punch"

Hey, guys. I'm watching the HD trailer and doing a bit of frame-by-frame, and I'm another vote against the right cross punch hypothesis. The expanding happens before his fist could reach her.

I also think it's weird that what looks like her hand suddenly becomes razor-thin, but I'm willing to say that that's the velcro strip on the hazmat suit.

ok I just had this really evil thought...

what if, 'splodin woman explodes, but it's a part of a dream sequence? you know one of the protagonists finally gets some rest, and it's one of those scenes where your led to think that everything is still continuing, but actually it's a dream, then right as something wrong happens, the hero having the dream jumps up bolt upright and gasps. (like the scene at the start of aliens where you think a chest-buster is coming out of ripley, but she wakes up.)

Thus far indications are that the whole movie is done on the handheld DV camera, so a dream sequence wouldn't fit with being found in a DV camera's footage too well. The whole movie could though...

When considering Jamie's odd absence from the trailer and credits, I considered that this might all be a dream of hers - how bad would that be?

Back to Ockham's razor

Ockham's razor theory for thos who don't know goes something like this "All other things being equal, the simplest solution is usually the best."

That being said the simplest explanation is that she is sick/infected and totaly uncooperative or out of control and needs to be subdued or controled. Movies deal with this in many ways. From a slap in the face and the line "Get a hold of yourself!" to BANG BANG!! " I had to shot him he was gonna freak out and kill us all.

She gets it somewhere in between that. They just "clock" her so they can do they're tests and keep her quiet.

Very Happy

I don't think he hits her, his arm wobbles backwards and forwards before it does the final move towards her. I think he's just trying to hold her with both hands.
