No apologies neccessary Ed...
Every once in a while a tido wave of frustration washes over the dedicated -
but you've done an awesome job utilizing your creativity...it kept people occupied,
as well as, keeping things productive during the downtime.
Your efforts aren't in vain Eddy - just remember,
when you do have time to follow the experience - don't forget to have FUN...
(aka "Don't let the Man getcha down")

Otherwise...it's all very pointless Wink
Kudos on the Effect blog!!

Wow.

And I went through every link except for the effect cuz I assumed that just led back here. Thought maybe someone was legit with a site or something, nope they are mostly myspace pages or cloverfield fan pages.

The only post that has any merit is the post by T. And after looking over this whole thing that comment is probably just someone dicking around. I assumed it could be teddy but my bs meter is really high on that.

Dude, that's how I feel all the time!! You've described my default status. Smile
So, I second what the good, albeit awkward, Doctor said a few posts back. Great smokin' baby, btw, Doc. First one's free, kid!

Also, about the comments on TIDO - they're not that sloppy. I mean, there's nothing there that expressly talks about the movie. People mention evil things Tagruato is doing and monsters and even a prophecy that something bad will happen on Jan. 18th. So what? Given the overzealous "Mother Earth is good and pure, Corporations are evil!" attitude of TIDO, I don't think it's unrealistic to post the comments they selected. Put it this way: if you had never heard of this movie at all, and you stumbled across this TIDO site, would you think there was anything weird about the comments? If anything, I'd think they were too light-hearted, but I wouldn't walk away thinking, "what's this movie they all keep talking about?"

WTF...all those comments....i feel like they shouldnt have posted all those...its almost too much...also i feel like the 3 first comments might be the most relevent of them all...How we gonna make the difference between IG characters and real-life players ?

In the meantime i realized Greenbear has to be Teddy Hanssen, realizing there's an entity which fits his ideals, posts the comment on the 21st asking for how to help them, hacks the website on the 23rd, and tidowave thanks him the day after anonymously ( minus the 'handsome' hint which otherwise ir totally irrelevent)...

zing

EDIT : Oops, didnt read all of the above...

We accept Tagruato.jp for a number of reasons. A picture at 1-18-08.com lead us to it. Additionally, the Slusho.jp site has a direct connection to Tag. Tag lists Slusho! among others as theirs. There are embedded logos in the Slusho! site of Tag. Tag is the big show now. TIDO is intruiging none the less. But some of this makes no sense as far as IG goes. Why do you make an effort to first lead people to Slusho! Make Slusho your iconic image and then the writers suddenly drop Slusho! and focus on Tag only and only Tags environmental issues.

That is why it does not make sense to me right now.

They're trying to tell a story. I assume they are doing things in some kind of order... The importance of Slusho! (even if there isn't much to it ) will be revealed in due time.

That's pretty ambiguous, and meaningless. I am assuming OOG unless something to the contrary surfaces. Things like design and mention of Tagruato are not definitive proof. Anyone could have photoshopped the header, anyone could have designed the website nicely.

EDIT: The number of gamejacks concerning Cloverfield makes this site warrant heavy suspicion.

I don't see what's ambiguous about it... The guy said he thinks it's OOG because it seems like the focus has completely sihfted from Slusho! to other things...

I am about 75% sure this is OOG

If it is IG then why didn't the PM's make a load of fake posts with insteresting leads and substance?

The posts up there now make IMDB look like a Science Fair of Mensa people.

I would think you would control the flow of information and allow setups to the story arcs. For instance, Slusho! did not let everyones dumbass comments into the Slusho! talk section! They filtered.

The PM's have really blown it with this site. Again, I have to say that as far as IG reality goes, THE EFFECT has it hands down.

Indeed. Comments about mutant monsters attacking New York in January and so forth. It seems like they just approved the whole batch of comments without bothering to screen any of them. While I believe this site is IG, this kind of gaffe will only fuel the IG vs. OOG debate even more.

Hmm, strange... But they don't accept some comments. I was a little bit in "game jack"-mood (sorry pals) and wrote a comment from a Japanese worker working in Tagruato with the message in Japanese "Mr. TIDO. The things your are doing are illegal. Please stop to claim Tagruato".

And this comment wasn't published.

So they are moderating the comments - but their strategy isn't transparent...

COMMENT MODERATION AND OOGNESS

If you want to test there moderating of comments start submitting ridiculously over the top comments. reference the movie and lost and jj abrams and the trailers. If they let the comments through then you'll know how seriously they are taking this. Either way, I maintain that in order for this to be OOG these people would have to be mind reading geniuses to get the contents of the hack 2 WEEKS before it occured so that they could register their domain name. skepticism is good to a point but it seems like you want it to be oog so you can say haha told you.

They are monitoring/editing/deleting the comments..I tried a different approach in favor of big corporation my 2 posts/comments were not put up....

1)"Stop spreading your blasphemy! Without corporations funding experimentation into new research and technology, you all would be primitive mammals! "(Organize to Revolutionize)

2)"Your all degenerates and should be in jail" (Mystery hackers)

So they are checking them

Is there a list of Tagruato products? How can I identify them in my local stores?

Urchin

One more piece of evidence towards IG:

Source code for the opening page tidowave.com that has the flash animation contains the Urchin tracker that some people claimed the site was missing before. The lack of Urchin on the blog page was used as evidence to prove OOG further back in the thread. While the tracker itself doesn't lend direct evidence, it does lead the page to fit the style/trend of the other pages.

Quote:
"http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script>
_uacct = "UA-3125618-1";
urchinTracker();

Has anyone broken down any of the .swf files on the page yet, just for kicks?

Edit: Doh, should have known the script wouldn't appear correctly...

I highly doubt you can just ask them about Teddy and they will be all like "Yeah of course we know Teddy, Teddy Hansen with the long hair and goatee, man that guy loves to drink and talk to his girlfriend Jamie"

I don't disagree at all that they'd never answer a question like that.

Hence why I asked it as a comment (I being one who -did- ask whether they knew someone named Teddy). I've been sitting on the fence as to whether this was IG/OOG myself, as I can see arguments both ways.

So I sent a comment that was intentionally lame to see whether it came through or not. It's up on the site, and that tells me something about what level of commentary they're stopping.

But I don't disagree they'd never answer it. I just didn't expect them to do so, as that wasn't the point of me making that comment.
