[META] Any Cloverheads in Texas siked about watching this film at the Alamo Drafthouse? Hey. Any of you near an Alamo Drafthouse (better known as the best cinema EVER)? They'll probably be serving Slushos and all. I'm pumped!
For those who don;t know what it is, check it here: www.drafthouse.com
Anyone outside TX, got any cool theaters near you that may jump on the Cloverfield bandwagon and do something cool?

Unhelpful comment is unhelpful. I'm in Denton. Possibly in Houston, but I think classes will have started again by the 18th. Dunno of any Drafthouses nearby, and have a feeling I will be too lazy to drive anywhere. Damn this state for being so huge.

I'll definitely be at the first screening at Edwards Cinema in Downtown Houston, TX.

Don't know Edwards, but you have an Alamo on West Oaks mall...I suggest you watch it there and order a Blue Cheese burger while you're there. You can thank me later.

Growing up in Austin, the Alamo Drafthouse has been a beacon of shining hope that movie-going could be fun again. I recently had the pleasure of seeing "No Country for Old Men" at the brand new Downtown location (formerly the Ritz), and it turned out pretty badass. (The movie, the themed dinner, and the space) Anyways I'm pretty excited to see what they will do for "Cloverfield." Most likely they will just grab some of the Squishee machines from the Simpsons Movie Premiere and slap a Slusho! label on them. But I agree, that would be the only place to see a movie of this magnitude. I can't wait to drink a "real" Slusho! (and then maybe a bucket of beer or two)

Yeah man, I was at the Ritz Alamo for No Country as well (bad ass movie btw). Having slushos with good food and alcohol while [...] -insert: cthulu, godzilla, mr. stay pufft, giant crab, etc- destroys NY will rock to impressive levels.

YAY! Texans! South of Houston here in a little town called Alvin. I could maybe make it up that way if we get a group going or something

Since I moved back to Dallas, the thing I've missed the most is the Drafthouse. There's a local-type thing here, but it's just not the same... they'd never show "The Big Lebowski" on the side of a bowling alley while serving white russians to the patrons.

There's more than one Alamo in Austin, which one would be the best to see it at? We have one here in SA, but if they don't have anything special for the premier I will make the drive to Austin.

Yeah, its a short drive. Any alamo is great here, but I prefer the Downtown Alamo or the South Lamar one.

Wow...I was looking at the Frappr map and thought me and heytheyfoundabody were the only Texans. I live on the opposite side of Houston as him, tho (I'm in Spring). Getting a group together would be pwnsome. There's a teeny tiny Alamo Draft House on the feeder near 45 and 1960 or something... but it's not very good.
By the "Downtown Edwards" you mean the one at the Marq*E , right? They have an absolutely enormous IMAX screen there, and barring a new Star Wars sequel they'll be using it for Cloverfield.
