Isis Book
Do you get one?

Hello all,
First post here. Got a very quick question.

I received my Isis today and I have read somewhere that you get a book of clues to get you started. Does this book come in the box? I ask because I didn't get one. Thanks

Some boxes did not come with the cypher clues. Go to www.isisadventure.com/tsi (the sharper image USA ISIS) ww.isisadventure.com (everywhere else) to register and view the clue list.

You can also go to www.isisadventure.com/forum unter the BOOKS forum they are posted there as well.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
clue 1: To begin you must keep the button facing upwards.
clue 2: There are a number of ball bearings inside the isis that can be heard.
clue 3: To progress a third ball bearing needs to be released inside.
clue 4: The rings and symbols provide a navigational reference point.
clue 5: To control the release of the ball bearing, turn upside down, rotate and listen carefully.

those clues are pretty different to the ones I remember. Are you in America?

There are different versions of clues floating around different continents. All versions help you open the ISIS.

Conrad,

Thanks for not posting the rest of the clues. However, I'd even skip giving people hints. Simple Substitution Cypher is the only hint people need.

Remember, for every person you help thats one more person you are competing against.

 Isis solutions
there must be different versions and different solutions

First of all, thanks to all the good folk on this site who have offered their wisdom and experiences in solving the Isis. I "think" this helped in solviing my Isis, which I did this morning.

I am not sure why my Isis opened. It is the Sharper Image/USA version. The key clue was the so called #11 (origin of the universe). From looking inside the Isis, I can see how important this was. Beyond this, however, I am not sure that the other clues were useful or necessary. I never got to the point of the plunger only going half-way down. I never had to turn the Isis upside down. I never had to keep the plunger pushed down. I am not sure why I didn't have to do these things. Now that I have "gotten inside," I can see what the plunger does, the importance of the third ball bearing, and the importance of the other two ball bearings. Clearly, all these components have to be in the right place for the Isis to open.

I must say that I am impressed by the mechanism. It is clever and certainly not easily guessed when you don't see what is going on/needs to go on.

As others have pointed out, the initial step is key and nothing like this was mentioned in the 10 clues that I deciphered when I got my Isis. This step may not be "unfair", but it certainly seems a good stretch away from any step that one would expect in a thinking person's puzzle.

I, too, look forward to future generations of this puzzle.

So glad I didn't buy this...

Hi- I read well past 30 pages on this this morning, so glad I came here first.

I was staring at this thing in the Sharper Image catalog and debating not only spending the $200 for one for myself, but also possibly ones for my mom and sister- after all- each one is supposedly so unique.

What a waste that would have been- after reading the truth behind this puzzle - it's just a $3 mind teaser in a fancy $200 case with level-1 cypher clues to get you started.

I can't imagine how more of you aren't upset- I guess in England they had those prizes after you open it, but for it to stand as a puzzle on its own is pitiful- I kind of think many of you just want to say how fun it was after you opened it so as not to deal with the fact you wasted real money on this.

Finally, the biggest concern of all this- is the quality (or lack of) of the puzzle itself... For this money you'd think each one was tested and the design was flaw-proof- instead we see broken pieces, stuck balls, missing symbols, and TYPOS on the unit itself and on it's own clues-I could never trust doing a puzzle that claims to be the harest in the world when it's very possible it's broken to begin with.

Good concept, terrible execution. Sad
