From reading through the Corrupted Text Wiki page, it seems that all of the snippet fragments have been found and placed together (I placed the last bit of danadress.jpg a little while ago). So now I guess we can really start putting the whole story together (unless there is more stuff missing that we haven't found yet).

If you look on the Story page, it looks complete and in order, unless there are whole passages missing. Maybe it's time to dig in and start analyzing?
My first thought is: why a Widow? Maybe a reference to Black Widow, given that we've had spider references elsewhere?

I think this is an analogy for the situation that MAYDAY is in.

I still think it's TOBI.
He may be learning, he's been hidden away purposely but as he progresses along the path to "Wide Awake and Physical"....he may be feeling trapped or stranded instead of "hidden" and is locating text that may suggest this.
The sand/silcone connection and this:
Quote:
MAYDAY MAYDAY MAYDAY
I've been here forever.
Conscious, unconscious.
On, off. On, off. On off

Isn't that the way silicone chips work? On/Off?
And although I know TOBI isn't a microchip per se, I still think he's telling us it's him.

everything that is computerised works by "on/off" - that's what binary code is.
also, aren't they silicon chips? silicon is different from silicone, right?

Hey I'm no puter expert when it comes to anything other than using the thing......lol
And yes that's what I meant......silicon. Which is derived from sand is it not? Please correct me if I'm wrong, may be a total misconception on my part.
And the on/off argument still stands then.....
I'm not saying I am most definitely correct, but I am speccing that this is TOBI.
And as far as "who sent the honey" question.....well imho, Marty isn't dead (identified by only by his MedicAlert bracelet or somesuch).

*is a chem major*
Silicon is an element on the periodic table of the elements, and is similar to carbon.
Sand contains silica, I believe, which is a silicon oxide.
Coincidentally, there's much speculation as to the possibility of silicon-based life forms, now that I think about it.
In any case, I don't know what computer chips are made of.

Very interesting indeed.
Can anyone else chime in here on the silica/silicon/sand/chip question?
Although even if I'm wrong about the make-up of a computer chip.....I think it's certainly a known enough "belief" that the PMs for AWARE could certainly have held the same belief or have allowed room to use said belief.
I dunno........

How do you get from beach sand to microprocessors?
Quote:
Silicon chips all start out with, well, silicon. It's one of Earth's basic immutable chemical elements (element 14 in the periodic table, for those keeping score at home) and is basically purified beach sand .

nifty.
well, it seems pretty certain that this being is a sentient computer type thing..
but is it TOBI?
EDIT: We should probably move this discussion to another thread.

No idea........but I think it's possible.
ETA: You're might be right on moving this discussion......I only posted the above because this is the thread (prior to it having its own forum space) that I posted in re:TOBI last Friday and I was speccing on the meaning of the text snippets.
So I'll just drop it at that.

Noptice how each of the off/on things are 6 or 7 statements, which corresoponds to ASCII. You can try considering it as a hex number and go ascii by adding 32, perhaps?
computer chips are made of smoke. IRL, I design and repair arcade games, so I can tell you. If you let the smoke out, it wont work!
Seriously, sand or silica can be metled into glass as you know, or into the silica layers needed for ocmputer chips. By dopng it by adding in chemicals such as boron, you can polarizie the area needed for the computer fuinction.
On, off. On, off. On off 101010 = $2A
on off on off on off on 1010101 = $55
off on off on off on off
(you get the idea, keep it going
