Cthulhu has been beaten to death
Not sure what you are getting at? The search engine searches for any given keyword, as long as you don't use boolean signs, or quotation marks don't it?
I thought it worked like google in that way.
Anyway, the parameter here was whether JJ would use influence and elements of the lovecraftian mythos, to ensure a truely american monster, not whether the monster would be Cthulhu, Yog-Sothoth or Yig.
If that has been discussed ad nausam, and I misunderstod the search engine, I apologize.

You are correct - the search at uF searches for any of the terms by default ("Search for any terms or use query as entered"), unless you click the radio button next to "Search for all terms"
EDIT: casemyo is right - searching for Lovecraft rather than Lovecraftian would have shown you a lot of hits.

Hmm okay, this thread is going out on a tangent, but to my knowledge, in Google, if you search say the words: Tanzania frog extinct, the first hits if any will be pages where all words are mentioned, then pages where only two or one are present? At least thats what google does when I search, and I thought I had it on default...
And I used lovecraftian, as that is the recognized term for this genre, with or without the presense of the Cthulhu mythos.
But if the subject has been discussed in detail, let this thread sink. (Though in august, the whole aspect of Tagruato and TIDOwave, which I think play up on the dystopian, lovecraftian feeling, was not introduced yet, was it?)

I am speaking my mind now.
This 'mockumentary' of pitiful human suffering was not based around my actions, as far as I know.
However, it being one of my sea-born brethren is a likely possibility. However, this creature is not me .
I shall continue to torture your souls and thoughts with these pitiful threads, as done so by my many mind-servants.
I have spoken.
EDIT: Your spelling appalls me. I have never heard of this "R'ylhee" . I will eat your soul for this.

That was an amazingly eloquent post.
I really think Lovecraft may have indeed intended that his strange and intriguing stories were intended to incite a fandom that would drive the rest of us insane with all this talk of Cthulhu. Thus, I believe that in essence Lovecraft's writing are themselves the embodiment of Cthulhu.
They sure as hell aren't the script for this movie though.
Sorry.

I think it's important to note that U2 is not, nor will it ever be, a totally awesome band.

I'm sure someone could make a joke about U2 being "monsterous," so I'm inferring a joke before one gets made.
It's not Cthulhu. They would have been smarter calling it something Lovecraftian, in which case, would garnered a lot more attention. "Cloverfield" with Cthulhu doesn't get as much attention as calling it "The Call of Cthulhu."
That's not to say there may not be some Lovecraftian elements to it, but a large monster stomping around a modern NYC doesn't bring to mind Lovecraft.

If they were smart, they would leave the creature's origin a mystery, thus allowing Lovecraft fans to fit the monster into the Chthulhu mythos. That way this debate can go on for years, spawning fan fiction, boosting DVD sales, and most importantly, demanding a sequel.
