Could someone please move this off-topc discussion to a different thread? It's cluttering up the blog thread.
Thank you.

So did anyone point her to the chat room?
When you say 'her' you are referring to an in-game character right? Oh, I get it, trying to make this UF's game, and not the blue's or the newly emerging blacks. Keep people coming to your site by posting advertisement in someones game. Smart
WHAT? Um, I really don't get your point. Are you accusing UF of trying to take over ownership of the game? Are you accusing UF of shilling themselves on other boards/blogs? I'm not really sure what you intentions for this post were, but as I started to write it, and found out who the guest was, it made a little more sense to me.
As far as UF trying to control the game, I'd disagree wholeheartedly. In fact, I think Space's post makes it clear that UF wants no part in guiding the PMs of this newly discovered entity, wherther it be ARG or not. From what I get out of his post, he's making a point that the PMs will ultimately choose what player interaction they want to ignore, and what interaction they want to be a part of. UF has no interest in guiding the PMs of any game... unless the PMs are using UF in such a way that they are breaking the TOU.

The way she phrased the query made it apparent she wasn't going to go there, she was going to direct others there. It looks like these PMs at least have some understanding of controlling their environment rather than letting the players dictate the terms of the game.
Or, quite trying to contain the players playing on your boards and let them play like they want to.
Did you mean QUIT trying? Because that would make more sense, however misguided your statement is. Petty, petty post Nash. Space offers many suggestions, both as a player and as the owner of this fine establishment. It isn't written in stone that every player needs to follow his advice, so they are playing like they want to. Perhaps you should worry more about keeping things running in your own little world, and stop worrying about things that do not concern you.

Done... don't make me do it again, though... it was not fun.

You certainly could, except that it's not an issue of allowing anonymous posting or not. The rule violations here are 1) posting under multiple identities, and 2) abuse of the forums w/r/t 1). And yes, he has been warned previously on numerous occasions. And yes, it's getting really irritating.

If it's getting that irritating, then once again do as I said, and disable it. And there's your problem solved.
One other thing, for all you know it could have been his wife posting. Innocent until proven guilty? Or are people not allowed to share net connections...

I'm not going to throw out the whole barrel because of one or two bad apples.

This is not a court of law, it's a privately operated forum. I no longer wish to award him the benefit of the doubt because of his past indiscretions.

No offence Wishi-San, but it's Space's Space and he can do what he likes with it, IMHO. If people don't like the rules, they're just as free to not use the board as he is to change the login rules.
And I still don't get why Nash/Amy were upset about "UF" taking over this game...where the heck did that idea come from? As I believe Jamesi stated already, what Space said is completely the opposite...he doesn't think UF should become embroiled within the game similar to the previously sticky aware situation (my bruises are still healing from that Sh*tkicking ).
Peace.

EDIT: Oh, yeah..thanks Rowan for reminding me to reply to the actual topic of the thread In this case, I do think it would be best to create a second room. It sounds like "Dana" knows not to go there herself, but just incase a character gets referred to there (like SLake entering #unfiction, etc.), it might be best just to keep us all from getting confused

My $0.02 on the matter.
This idea was discussed in #beekeepers, and the consensus (at the time of discussion) was that a new room be opened. The reasons being (as I understood) were:
1. So that we weren't posting an OOG room into an in-game site.
2. In case we were to have in-game characters visit us, they could do so freely and not have to worry about ignoring OOG stuff.
I understand both sides of why or why-not a new room should be opened. As someone who's had a bad experience with PM's using OOG knowledge, I voiced my opinion on the side of caution. No one has to visit #ilovebees if they don't want to. And no-one is stopping anyone else from posting their own info to Dana about what room(s)/sites/whatever to visit. If the decision I commented on at the time of dicussion ruins the game for some people, I am truly sorry for that. But, IMHO, I just think this approach is less likely to cause curtain issues then if Dana was given info about #beekeepers.

Geez.
Haven't we been here before?
1. UF is out-of-game.
2. The PMs, ultimately, have the control over the game, not the players. Anyone who disagrees with this is being naive. If players say something to a character, PMs have every opportunity to pretend it didn't happen. This doesn't change, regardless of game or affiliation.
3. If this type of meta discussion continues to flare in the genre (and by "flare" I mean "FLAME") and on the UF boards, I will continue to be disappointed.
If this is the direction the genre is going, by way of RPG, bickering, flames of competition, and the destruction of whatever community we have managed to build here in the ARG world, then I no longer want to play your games. I no longer want to make games FOR you. I no longer want to be a part of this. There are many other ways that I can spend my time and my money than to try to play and create things that cannot be enjoyed and only debated.
I may be "old school," but my vision is just as clear and determined. This isn't a competition. This isn't a business model. This isn't war. This is a community. This is people. This is ARG.
Play how and where you want. Just make sure you're playing nicely.
Enjoy your trips.
edited to add "Just make sure you're playing nicely" as that didn't come across well without it

As one of the people in #beekeepers at the time...
We basically just wanted a "safe" holding area, so to speak, that new players could be directed to, without interfering with the reality of Beeland. We also did discuss about the context of Dana's blog entry, with the "channel" of communication -- was this literal or not?
#ilovebees doesn't need a large presence. It wasn't meant to be for meta/OOG discussions. We just wanted to keep the curtain down on #beekeepers (not saying that the PMs would cross this either), and forming a second channel just seemed like the easiest way to do this and keep IG/OOG separate.
Pardon if I'm rambling or repeating... it's been a long day.

Let me see if I have this straight.
I've created a new OS. I went over to Microsoft's boards to pimp it and they were underwhelmed, but didn't delete my posts or anything. Then a new user came along and someone told them they might like Microsoft's OS and I go back to Microsoft's boards and complain about the suggestion.
UF's been around a long time. And ARGN was before then. CD was very active in its time but there's been like 1 post in the past 5 days. Just because you have set up a new forum doesn't mean people are going to flock to it. If you're having problems getting people to play your games or come to your board, maybe it's time to take an internal look rather than start casting aspersions.
