[DK] [SPEC] Pie shop arrest similar to bank robbery
the ARG mirrors some beats of the movie story

I couldn't help but notice the parallels between the attempted arrest in the pie shop (from the Saturday update via the wire hidden in the shop and heard on the Internal Affairs site) and the robbery in the trailer. In both stories, the attempted arrest and the bank robbery, the attempt is interrupted by people trying to prevent the outcome. The attempted arrest is broken up... the bank manager shoots the robbers. In both stories, the theme of "don't you know what kind of a place this is?" plays out. In the pie shop, the thought is that you don't try to arrest crooked cops in a place frequented by criminals; in the bank robbery, the thought is that you don't rob a bank used by criminals.

I'm wondering if the back story in the game, at least in part, mirrors some of the story of the movie. This mirroring enhances the movie, not only by giving us specific back story of the characters, but also by playing the same themes so that these themes resonate. These themes include the corruption of the police, the pervasive presence of crime and (from the newspaper articles and a brief moment in the preview we saw) a deep ambivalence towards Batman.

After the massive updates last Friday, I wonder if we will get more this Friday - December 7th? It would be a shame to waste all the enthusiasm generated by the preview.
