[INFO] I was there when they filmed at Coney Island...

so what about that forgotten Coney Island scene?

I mean yes the only footage we talk about in this forum is the obvious scenes we have witnessed throughout the 2 trailers which have been several different locations(ex. the apartment, night time at Columbus Circle, Manhattan streets, etc..) but it seems we forget that there is going to be that scene at Coney Island as well. I havent seen the Coney island aspect about this film being talked that much on this board since back on Dec. 2nd. I beleive the scene at Coney island will be either at the beginning of the film or maybe perhaps the end...that would be something interesting to think about.

I know kinda late, but anyway, Im a regular at Coney Island and its Astroland Amusement Park and back in the beginning of summer(forgot exactly what day), a day I went with my brother, I was on Surf avenue about to leave, I remeber seeing a few guys with handheld cameras, but then i saw the huge professional Panavision cameras being wheeled right in front of me, a crew was walking down the street for the next shot to be filmed...I asked them what are you guys filming, and they didnt acknowledge me, probably considereing the fact that there was hundreds of people all around me and after 2 seconds, we could of easily lost them in the chaos. Me and my brother did follow them for a minute to see what the speculation was all about, but all they were doing was rolling the cameras for a good while(at that time I had no idea it would be for Cloverfield, i was guessing it was just a low budget film buy a few guys, thats all, so i wasnt really too concerned with what they were filming..*smacks self in face* LOL) , I had no clue it was for Cloverfield movie until a week or so later, when I read the NY Post and see that the same day i went in that late afternoon, directors and crew went there to film scenes for the movie, so you will see shots of the boardwalk, the famous wheel...hmm maybe they got a good shot of me in the film as well! LOL. Well to some things up, for someone like me to be apart of this viral campaign searching for clues all this time, If i only knew I was gonna be apart of this whole experience, I wish i coulda watched them more closely and get more clues at the time, considering the hype these past several months and game., but everything happens for a reason!, so I was happy to see something like that in person.

Please read the following article for additional resource from July 16th of the NY Post:

as reported on that hot summer day in Coney island:

"A small crew, including [Abrams] (co-creator of "Lost") and director Matt Reeves ("Felicity"), along with up-and-coming actors Blake Lively and Mike Vogel (both from "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants") came into the park with hand-held video cameras."

Problem is we pretty much know Blake Lively is no part of this movie. She doesn't play the Jamie we see in the JLT videos, and we've also now identified the Rob's Awesome Girl as someone else.
It's entirely possible they filmed a scene there for the beginning, but based on all the other evidence about the movie indications are it would be nowhere else in the movie, and the assertion that Blake Lively was part of it creates massive doubts about it actually having been a Cloverfield shoot. Because of the secrecy around this movie, much that is rumored and assumed to be true isn't denied by Paramount, Bad Robot, or JJ Abrams, so a lack of denial of that location shoot doesn't mean it's real.

considering how the trailer starts, there could very well be a similar collection of quick clips, jumping around several locations showing damage by the monster as it continued on. So coney island might be nothing.

As for that little snippet I wrote about Blake Lively and the exact names being there at Coney Island was a direct quote from the Post dated back a week in July when at that time, there was a whole bunch of speculation about whom the actors were and back at that time, we all didnt exactly know then whom the actors would be in the movie, Either way, at that time I didnt even know who J.J. Abrams was, and after all these months and seeing how he looks, I beleive that was defintly him I saw walk right in front of me with the crew. I highly would consider that day to be a shoot towards the Cloverfield movie, Unless you want me to believe that was just a publicity stunt?, For someone to say that all of that happened at coney island is not real, is absurd. I beleive there are other locations that we do not see in the trailers and even NY1 reporter Ms. Torre whom is in the actual teaser trailer on television talked in the same Post article:

"NY1 reporter Torre, on the other hand, was lucky to get plucked to star in the flick, and shot "a lot" more scenes than the one you see in the trailer.
"This whole thing was cloaked in mystery," Torre told The Post. "We weren't given any names. They made me sign a nondisclosure agreement, and I'm not supposed to talk about it."

Now whether how much of the Coney Island Footage they add in the actual movie or whether they even add it in the movie at all, thats a different story cause they could always edit it out, but that would be nonsense when Im pretty sure there are other location in the movie then what they show in the trailers and what we are so accustomed to now by watching the same trailer over and over to a point where you feel thats the whole movie, "nighttime in Manhattan". If its going to be 90 minutes long, a scene in Coney Island in the beginning sounds reasonable. I saw it hands on going down, not some 2 minute trailer like we are used to watching.

maybe at the end of the 'movie' after all of the monster footage the tape runs into previously recorded stuff of 'happier times'

Nice! If it doesn't it SHOULD. It would be really creepy with everyone dying and yada yada and then it cuts to something they recorded over. Everyone at the amusement park having fun, drinking Slusho! with lots of fore(post?)shadowing as to what's to come and they are all oblivious. Great Idea, could happen

That would be cool actually. I thought the camera that was posted looked too big to stand in for a hand held one, so I'm not sure if that's what format it'll be in.

that is a cool idea for an ending... kinda like the dawn of the dead remake. with the credits rolling over it. maybe.

its plausible that they filmed some sort of flashback scene in coney island but i dont know.. blake lively being any part just doesnt make sense at this point Confused

Someone being correctly or incorrectly identified as Blake Lively does nothing to debunk this story though.

We've also seen production photos from the Blackbook article/gallery that look like they are from a point in time prior to the attack (e.g., Hawk and Lily in a grocery store). I'm assuming there'll be some amount of backstory provided in this movie. I can't imagine they'll just dump people into the movie without any of the background on the main characters. Granted, we've been able to gather some of it via the online experience, but they're going to have people going to this movie that don't know anything about the stuff we look at online. It would be either very bold or very insane to make a movie that depended entirely on people visiting websites to gather the backstory needed to understand the characters. Therefore, I think we will see some scenes of the character's lives prior to the attack, either through additional handheld camera footage or maybe even (GASP!) some regular ol' filmed scenes. In fact, even as an avid follower of the online experience, I'll be very frustrated if the movie provides no tie-in with the whole Tagruato/Slusho/Ganu part of the story.

Well said. They wont go in depth about the whole viral storyline in the movie but i do believe that there will be a few scenes leading up to the party at the apartment, like that at coney island then in the supermarket, etc...and then the idea that someone here said that the camera cuts to something they recorded over(them at coneyisland) is very interesting as well, that is show towards the end of the movie and I like that idea. So im not sure where they would place the coney island scene, either in the beginning or they could roll that footage at the end, not in the middle of course.

FINALLY!!
Someone ELSE who takes the Coney Island theme seriously!

I have brought this up in other posts and people just "pooh-pooh" it aside, accusing the Coney Island residents of being hicks, basically. (As if!)

A couple of the tenets from this article have already been proven to be true. Why not the rest; Why not an Alien? Why not Blake Lively?

The time is quickly approaching. We will see. Very Happy

The one still we've seen that's clearly not in the apartment and not in the party or aftermath is in the bodega, the same one we see them hiding in in the trailer.

As for the article by the Post being unimpeachable because a 'media outlet couldn't make such a mistake' - that's how we had 3 months of IMDB and others stating that "Odet Jasmin" was in the movie, instead of "Odette Yustman". The reporter for that relatively reputable site misheard or miswrote (or both) the name, and everyone took off on it. Film sites now have a profile for this totally fictional 'Odet Jasmin' actress with only ONE credit - Cloverfield.

(From a parable I know:)
Pluck the chicken as you leave town, then come back tomorrow and pick up the feathers as you return. See how many you can find. It's just like a rumor - once it's out there's almost nothing you can do to get it all back.
