You're right. Makes the park a little less obvious as a true portal, although I'm still thinking that it's an answer.

The Wish can probably travel anywhere, but what if he was prompted to contact Dale because of his earlier visit to the park (see diary) when he was probably thinking/wishing in his head. Take a look at the midway photos - a purple hand in a picture, the hand on the fortuneteller's ball. Maybe they read minds? Knew he needed a wish? Then he brings his family to the park, and is still thinking about how much trouble he has; this is the place where he confessed all to Diana. Again. Maybe The Wish was listening and followed him home?

I still vote for the park as the portal/gateway (those words repeat often in the word jumble game).
