[The difference between real life and the movies is that there are characters more or less designed to elicit disdain from the viewer. Stating that people who want specific characters in films or shows to get written off means they wish for people in real life to die is ridiculous. The horror genre in particular depends on those characters. Or do you fall in line with one of those nuts who thinks violent films turn regular people into killers?

No, and that's a red herring. I'm trying to draw attention to the fact that some of the commenters have been expressing their dislike of Jamie -- who I agree is kind of annoying, and would not be surprised to her die early in the film -- in sexist and even misogynist terms. It's that mindset I'm criticizing. It's less a matter of "movies and real life" and more "people who comment on the internet."

But it's still a movie stereotype. If you have an issue with misogyny, I'd comment more on the writers who put actresses into those roles and not the people who react to it. Characters illicit reactions. Nine times out of ten they're supposed to illicit very specific reactions. Her role is that of a stereotypical dumb blonde. If people hope her character gets killed off so they can enjoy the film more, what's it to you? They have to spend $12 on a movie ticket, so they can complain about whatever they dislike about the film all they want.

Who cares about this? People are surprised that some people express opinions that are misogynystic? I mean seriously, the high and mighty approach hasn't worked in hundreds of years of paternal, misogynistic society, why would it work on this forum. If you don't like a comment, seems better to ignore it than draw everyone into an argument about the finer points of misogyny at Unfiction.

Bloody hell. Did you just claim no responsibility for what you typed, and lay it all on an all powerful writer who made you type. Just to be clear.

Edit: Never mind, I'm not getting drawn into this argument.

I'm actually hoping she doesn't get killed, I don't dislike her that much. I want there to be an ARG after the film and for her to be the main character in it.

I'm sure she'd grow as a character.

No. I was simply stating that some characters in films are meant to be disliked. Every movie has its villain, its hero and its red shirt. What I meant to say was that most writers develop characters that are meant to be cheered, booed and disliked. You can't lay blame on the consumer for reacting to a character the way you intended them to.

Clear now?

That's not ironic. That's just conveniently coincidental. Irony would be if Paris Hilton, driving safely and legally, got hit by a drunk driver. Laughing

After watching her last video I have to conclude she can't get any dumber.

lol

Her latest video demonstrates Darwin's theory of evolution. Some of us made it, others did not. Jaime needs to die in the ARG...I don't want her making it to the film.

'Cuz she's blonde, and as a black man, blondes are the very bane of our existence! If they make false claims, it's trouble for us even if we are innocent!!!111!one, and she comes off as an airhead.

That, and she posted a striptease in her video. That's mainly my reason.
