VERY IMPORTANT!!! READ THIS AND SAVE THE DEUCES In which Paul reveals his plan to SAVE THE DEUCES! People of Silver Ladder,
All you faithful in our Deuces,
I have found two ways to derail the system of folding cruelty.
1) NO ONE SENDS ANY EMAILS- so no votes are received.
SHOULD THIS FAIL, WE MUST IMMEDIATELY SEND COUNTER-EMAILS. Every time someone votes to fold, say, 2H and 2D, someone else will vote to fold 2S and 2C.
WE MUST SAVE THE DEUCES! THERE IS STILL HOPE!

I counter your suggestion with this:

VOTE! DO NOT TRY TO STOP THE VOTING PROCESS!

if no-one votes, or there's a mass revolt, jonah will fold himself.

Also, if we don't vote... then maybe they will proceed with the original plan to fold all four.

ok guys, my zwei koppers...
i don't like this one bit. DABDA. hoping for the final A though. and i'm faced with knowing this IS foreshadowing. The end of the beginning and a cataclysm... but regardless it reminds me (the loss) that this journey will also one day end. one day i may not have my beloved deck and sl team.
(pool of tears)
<phew>
ok, i hate soap opera nonsense, but these are real people and we've gotten to know them and...
[sigh]
no worries though. life goes on. and its only a website after alls, right? a voice tells me
"be thankful there was a choice. be thankful you're a part at all..."
i love this voice. hope you all hear it too...
no revolts please. no bad blood. no nonsense. and i'll try not to be too sappy... agreed?
so lets wipe the tears and doggypaddle past this salty deluge to greener pastures.
till then my friends....

Folding There is a difference between accepting someone's dissapearance and asking people to choose who disappears. Granted you can't have 52 cards running around at the same time. But what is asked is that the people choose to eliminate a constructed personality. Although, there is no physical harm done to anyone it feels a little bit like murder. Choose which constructed personalities get to live on for the site and which disappear.
So, yes, some passengers will have a hard time with it.

What confuses me about everyone's reaction to this is that no one promised this whole story would be happiness and sunshine and roses.
What good is "chaotic fiction" without some chaos?
I'm confused by the reaction.

But, are they really constructed personalities? I haven't spoken to them a great deal, but, they feel real. Didn't 2H say that she's going to be an English major? Jonah and Watch actually met each other. They may not be real personalities...but they may be.
Michelle brought up a very good point in the thread dedicated to 3D's week .

Has anyone stooped to consider the fact that the whole premise that this is wrong on every level. The very favt that the aces have dominion over what is essentially the lives of these characters should be openly challenged. Everyone has the right to live, speak and befriend whom they choose. If a rule is unjust it ought not to be followed. The fact that the aces seek to pass the burden of choosing who remains onto us is merely an extension of their unjust control. I refuse to be led into doing something i know is wrong. The deuces have given us a message about the power of love, about the fact that it is not necessary to have a critic to appreciate art and the sheer beauty of chaos yet the accept the aces authority without question, which makes little sense. I refuse to vote as I do not assume the right to place value on the life of one friend over another. This does not mean i intend to leave all four to their fate. I intend to offer Jonah and the others an alternative to sacrifice. fighting for their continued existence for each is uniquely beautiful and existence is his or her right to be defended.
Michelle
I think this is a very good point. Is there any way for us to speak directly to the Aces, to ask questions and gather more information?

I am confused as well. We have been warned about this since the beginning. If we are going to fully participate in this experience we have to go along for the ride. Sure, we might not like this decision, but Saul made it much better than what could have been. We coudl have lost all 4.
Remember 2C told us in chat to choose a pair that is not too much alike to help us communicate all sides to the aces.
Also I believe he told some of us that we can communicate with those that are folded after this experience (if they chose to do so). It isn't a good-bye really. More of a "See you later".
Anyway, I hope this won't tear us apart. we have formed a tight group and have grown to care about each other. I am voting for what I believe to be the best decision and I will respect the final outcome.

My general thoughts on this...
Remember, if this is ultimately gonna be 52 people we meet, it's not gonna be the same. The deuces aren't people we only get a week out of (as it appears it's gonna be from here on out). We had the deuces for almost 2 months before they began taking turns. A lot of us know them about as well as someone can via this experience. They (the deck) know we're a little closer to the deuces then we will be to anyone else from here on out because they found a lot of us before we found them. They answered our ridiculous questions about what the hell was going on, and prepared a good bit of us for what's to come. Some more then others. Some of them met us in person, and some made life saving phone calls (no exaggeration) when they didn't need to. We are very lucky to be able to get 2 to come the rest of the way with us. Please take that into consideration when you're making your decision, because ultimately, it's gonna be each of us individually deciding.
Also, please don't be afraid to talk about it. Whether here, or in our IRC channel. Nobody wants to play favorites, but who else to discuss it with then your fellow passengers, right? I don't wanna tell you my "cons" either, but I will.
Personally, I'm not voting until I see the dialog unfold. Last minute style...
Ok, stepping off the stump now. Again, that's just my 2 cents...

My 2c (cents rather than clubs): although we expected something along these lines, we can still try to resist it, so I don't think 'we knew this was coming' is a valid argument for accepting it.
If we don't play ball, at the moment we risk one card voluntarily folding or all four being folded (the first option would actually be better than what we currently face). Can we not try to petition the aces via 3D to fold none, or one?
Alternatively, having two unsilenced for the rest of the journey is possibly better than we had before - having all four silenced is pretty much the same (to us) as having them folded. We don't actually know if this is the equivalent of 'killing' them - perhaps we need more information before deciding what to do.
Finally, (this is more like 4c, sorry!), whose decision was it to divide the pairs in the way we are offered? If it was 3D, can we change it? I would prefer to save 2C and 2H, to be honest.

You know...what we COULD do is offer to "fold" ourselves out of the game.
Two of us vow to never play again in exchange for saving the "lives" of whatever two Deuces are in question.
I don't really know if that will do anything, but...I thought I'd just throw some ideas out there.
I do agree with doublecross, though--we need more information.

I don't think that would work. We don't offer information like the deuces do, and so it wouldn't really be all that even a trade. And I'm sorry, but I refuse to bow out. I'm sure most of us feel the same.
