I dunno, the "review" sounds pretty damn legit, and no, we haven't seen all the stuff leading up to the Rob's Party trailer before....some pretty involved (and I daresay accurate) character backstory described by the OP: Hawk & Lil & Hud going to the convenience store (there's a photo of that somewhere); Hawk & Lena seem to be the only ones who drink Slusho (which prolly indicates Hawk will suffer a similar fate, and prolly very early, since he seems to be largely absent from most of the main trailer); insight into the conflicts between the characters. And the pacing would be accurate, too -- if the OP *did* see 20-25 minutes of the movie, then roughly 15-20 minutes of the opening is involved with backstory and character as one would expect, with the "first hook" -- i.e., the roar and the fireballs -- occurring right around the 20-25 minute mark, as one would expect from Basic Three-Act Syd Field Screenwriting Structure 101.

Yeah, everybody's a gamejacker, we know, and we've seen these kinds of "leaks" before, but I'm going out on a limb and saying this one's the real deal. There's nothing in the description that's a total dealbreaker (other than a clear error when the OP states that Rob says they should go to the roof -- we know from the trailer it was HAWK who said that, not Rob), and nearly all of it makes sense from a character/story/continuity standpoint.

And if it's legit, a couple of revealing tidbits include:

>Jamie is definitely confirmed NOT to be in the movie (unless she appears after all the $hit goes down); but she IS still alive and (apparently) well; and the famous 1-18-08.com "spread my hotness" pic may not be from the party after all
>Hud probably *does* have a closeted gay crush on Rob as I suspected; Hud may or may not be aware of his own sexual confusion
>Slusho DOES have a significant role in the movie, and probably contributes in a large part to the internal demise of Lena, Jamie, and possibly Hawk. And it clearly DOES still have a direct relationship to the Monster, despite CHUD, AICN, and Slashfilm's devout beliefs that it does not
>Rob ISN'T very popular, as I always suspected -- most of the peeps at the (lame) party are there just because they're friends of Rob's friends
>Hawk & Lil own the apartment -- kind of a surprise; I always assumed Rob owned it
>I'm wondering if Hawk & Lena have a little somethin-somethin on the side...sounds kinda like he's been cheating on Lil and showing Lena the joys of Slusho -- or maybe vice versa
>Hud tells Lena he's "sending the video to Slusho" -- why? Kind of an odd statement....but it probably confirms once and for all what most of us have long assumed: Rob's going to work for Slusho in Japan

also...I gathered from the trailer that Beth wasn't at the party...At least not when the monster attacked.

In the original trailer, Beth (Odette Yustman) was the girl who said, "Have fun in Japan."

Since the second trailer shows Rob, Lil, and Hud going to BETH'S apartment later, we can assume that Beth only spends a few minutes at the party, then goes back home to bed.

Well, the thread I started yesterday (http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=22554) points to several press releases indicating that Paramount is going to release a clip of the film as part of a promotion being shown on mobile phones. I don't know if people picked up on that, but yes, they are about to release a clip from the movie for promotional purposes. We don't know how long it is, or from what point in the overall movie it's being taken, but we're going to get to see a bit of it before the release. That, to me, is pretty exciting, but it didn't seem to generate much interest around here.

I only have two opinions I've formed about this:

1) It's pieced together out of things we've already seen/read...
2) It was boring, so even if it is true, who cares. ;O I want a detailed rundown of the monster! :[

So yeah, it's plausible, and it might even be real, but... it's not that interesting. o_O

Hmmm 20 minutes for this intro? That dosent leave too much time for the real movie to happen..

Don't misunderstand me, I mean this 'revelation' was posted elsewhere before, I remember reading it. It may be slightly reworded, but I know I've read it.

Yes, there's a shot of Hawk and Lily at the bodega. It's taken from the POV of the cashier and you'll notice Hud isn't in the shot. Those stills include Hud, so they are not meant to be from his perspective. Thus, indications are that Hud isn't with them in the bodega as the OP describes.

It's too predictable a pattern of thought, things we would expect. This satisfies the human nature of hearing things we want to hear. This is how manipulators work. It doesn't have anything profound and unexpected, but if you do that with a manipulation it still has to fly as being plausible enough - which is not so easy and usually where things go wrong.

So the timestamps on the pictures tell us the photographer captures a shot of Rob at the party at 12:01, we know Hud is there taping the whole time, and yet somehow Rob and Hud vanish from the party at 12:04 to get a picture taken with Jamie. Sorry, the pic is from the party and Jamie is there.

>Hawk & Lil own the apartment -- kind of a surprise; I always assumed Rob owned it

Based on the recent find on eBay of the wrap party invite, it's implied that Rob and Beth are in the same apartment and that they are attempting to 'resume' the party held in Rob's apartment. Also, consider this: Why is Rob going over to Hawk & Lil's apartment still dressed for work, looking tired like someone coming home from work, when we see him enter the apartment? Considering that it appears Rob opens the door, why would he just let himself into someone else's apartment?

We don't know that the shots are from Beth's apartment. We only know that Beth is at that point reunited with the others in that building. Speculation based on a picture should not be considered supporting facts for something else. If I speculate that pudding is alien feces, and someone else supports their claim that someone became an alien because they ate pudding - does that make much sense?

It's probably best to presume someone is fiming this scene on the handheld, and it's unlikely to be the cashier.

I don't buy this account, simply because it sounds like an extended teaser, when you'd expect them to show some NEW action scenes from the film to the press to get them excited about it. Not worth worrying about either way.

A lot of the publicity stills -- I'd venture to say all of them -- are NOT taken from the handcam/POV angle. Several of the stills even show Hud holding the handcam, so those publicity pix are clearly not meant to indicate actual screenshots from the movie. If Hud's at the bodega, he's likely to be diligently filming away, and we'll still see that scene from his POV, as will likely be the case for nearly the entire movie.

I'm still not convinced that the 1-18-08.com pix were sequential. It's just a point we'll have to agree to disagree on, until the movie comes out.

Rob clearly LIVES there, I don't doubt that. I was just questioning OWNERSHIP (or "rentalship...?") of the apartment. My assumption had always been that Rob moved from MN to NY, got the apartment as a roomie with Hud, and then Hawk mooched his way into his brother's apartment, and that Lil didn't actually *live* there, so much as sleep over with Hawk for most of the time. The new "review" would indicate instead that Hawk & Lil own the apartment, and Rob and Hud appear to be the "add-ons."

Of course it's an assumption that the "collapsing building" scene takes place at Beth's apartment. But it's an educated guess, based on earlier callsheet rumors that pointed to just such a scene, and the fact that in the trailer Beth is wearing PJs. So it's perfectly reasonable to assume that's BETH'S pad that's collapsing.

I've been trying to find it, it was quite a while ago that it had appeared (pre-trailer - hence why it's based largely on the teaser). I've got to do some other things right now, so my continued search will have to wait.

sorry but B.S. and i love ponies too but i can simply not understand how a 90 min would have almost 1/3 of it dedicated to something other than destruction... up to this point i've thought this movie was gonna basically be 10 min of backstory/party and 80 min of chaos...

and jamie was def. at the party... we cannot take ONE outta 5 pics and say it didn't happen that day where it's obvious it happened... the friggin party... come on now...

maybe we should just start a new [SPEC] Post Your Own Review thread or something...
