My first (wrong) guess was that the guy died when he choked on a pearl, while eating oysters in a restaurant... Rolling Eyes

(Plate -> He was eating from it)
(Mint -> Some restaurants give you mints to eat after dinner)
(Shell -> An oyster is inside a shell)

Another riddle:

A basket contains 5 apples. Do you know how to divide them to 5 kids so that each one has an apple (a whole one!) and one apple stays in the basket?

Here's another riddle:

A thief is sentenced to death. The judge has a cruel sense of humor, and declares: "I will allow you to speak one, and only one, sentence before you are executed. If you tell a lie, you will be hanged!!! However, should you tell the truth, the executioner will behead you! And you'd better be quick, since I want to play some golf."

The thief thinks for a while, then grins, and says something to the judge.
Then he walks out a free man, since the judge couldn't decide what to do.

What did the thief say?
