[SPEC] The Perfect Payoff what is it you really want out of this game? an early glimpse of the monster perhaps? Been closely monitoring the extended Cloverfield experience for a while now and I recently got to thinking about what would be the perfect payoff for those of us who have been following along...Ultimately I think what I'm most interested in is getting a good glimpse of the monster...That shot of him/her from the most recent trailer was quite riveting and exciting to watch...I realized at that moment that for the most part this whole game has revolved around exposing the identity of the monster...In that respect I think the ultimate payoff would be an image of the monster in its current catatonic state if he is indeed in one...take for example Jamie and Teddy's newest video where Teddy alludes to Tagruato's discovery...maybe Tag has some images (sonar perhaps) of the creature burried deep beneath the sea that are top secret...I would be truly satisfied if these images were the payoff or final destination if you will...maybe they've been uploaded to some top secret database on the net somewhere...or maybe someone from TIDO gets a hold of them...I dunnno...either way I'm curious about what it is that you guys feel is an appropriate ending to this or any ARG in general...is it just fun to play along or are you hoping for a big payoff???

Sure it would be uber cool to have...

But i think for most of us...
'Just fun to play along with'
( I want a sonar image packed with my slusho! t-shirt... )

For me it is just the allure of the whole experience. It's fun to descend into another reality where implausible things occur (much the same reason some people easily believe in ghosts, aliens, bigfoot, magic) It's more fun to exist in a reality where anything and everything is possible, our world can be quite mundane and when not mundane, utterly depressing. While it would be cool to get a glimpse of the monster or a secret trailer or something, I will not be disappointed if we don't. What would disappoint me is if Cloverfield is nothing but a Lost spin-off, I think I would walk out of the theater.

For me, I think knowing this back-story going into seeing the movie will make the film a lot easier to understand. True, it's a monster movie, so we may not need to understand much apart from the fact that Grumpypants is ticked off and taking it out on NYC, but at least we'll know where he came from, why he's doing what he's doing, and just in general what happened in the weeks and months leading up to the destruction.

The perfect payoff for me would be a pair of blond twins, a jacuzzi, and some baby-making music

Isn't this why we're all doing this?

The perfect payoff for me would be to have a game where the players' interaction actually have an effect on the story (in the game if not the movie). As that seems unlikely, the back story (that we may or may not learn as time gets closer for the opening) should pay off with us having a greater understanding of the events leading up to the movie, the creation of the monster, the damage the monster has already caused, etc.
Do I want to save Teddy? Not sure how much I care about rescuing him.

my payoff is that i have a deeper feeling for the characters. most of the movies i see where the main people die, you really don't have too much sympathy when supporting characters get wacked because most of the story is spent getting to know the main hero(s). however in this film we have so much background it seems to give them more life, almost like they are real people. you get a feeling of down to earthness about the slusho 7, they don't come off as the traditional hollywood made up persona. they are all a tight group of childhood friends that grew up together and kind of remind me of the friends i have now that i grew up with. so seeing this tragedy unfold for them and knowing most will not make it, kind of gives a deeper sympathy factor. i feel that when i finally see the movie the story will have more meaning than the people who haven't been following the game.

I would like a monster so mind-blowing that it destroys my consciousness and drives me insane...without being Cth-you-know-who. Preferably, it would be as creepy as its roar. And its new roar would be the original roar backwards, without the inhaling sound, for max freakiness.

I have another perfect payoff for this game. My perfect payoff is for people who have enjoyed following this promotion to stay here at unfiction and become part of the community following other games.

I'm hoping for at least one solid, well thought out puzzle that leads to a righteous group-solve and leaves no question as to whether it's IG or not.

Being a viral campaign, this would not be a very good way to sustain interest (hype). In such a campaign as this, the movie is fundamentally the payoff. For those that really follow the campaign directly, the greater insight is basically the payoff.
