This thread is doing a good job of defining those that do and don't have:
*an understanding of what is and isn't real, thus a good grasp of what exists and is allowed IG vs OOG
*an understanding of analogous existences in parallel realities
    *an imaginaion

Reality is for those who can't cope with fantasy.

Since the thread devolved I will try to get back on track.

The FDA doesn't do its job correctly in the real world, there is no reason to assume the FDA would do its job correctly IG.

I believe Slusho! would be marketed in the USA in the energy drink type category....look what the ingreds are in our "real life" drinks....FDA wouldn't have a problem IMHO approving Slusho! for consumption, especially if the seabed nectar in the drink makes itself known just like ginseng in a real OOG drink, an inert "healthy additive"....just my spec on this one.

Peace.

All you ppl who are throwin temper tantrums ; Mercurix & carson- need to calm it on down. Were just having fun here. If you dont like it please close the UnFiction window and exit.

The guy asked a legit question about the FDA- and i clearly understood he did not mean the actual FDA. We should stop trying to be so defensive. Keep an open-mind please. Ive had my fair share of starting Forum-Fights(check my post history), and i know they lead nowhere.

Happy posting all

I wasn't screwing with the original poster....I was pointing out carson's lack of understanding of what the poster meant. I was angry at the fact that carson was attempting to undermine the original poster and also said he would be leaving UF for something he himself was doing at that moment.

Now that I'm done nicely explaining myself to you, I'll add a little bit of venom sauce at the end, as you so 'elegantly' did. If you don;t like reading my or other ppl's points of view on an open forum (whether they be agitated or not), then maybe you should close the UnFiction window and exit friend. And double check what I wrote before using my name in your posts like that please.

The conclusions reached when previously discussed were that kaitei no mitsu couldn't be hazardous or the FDA would block it's sale in the US. Please note that food ingredients don't quite experience the same 'approval' situation as drugs - in fact many substances are marketed as 'dietary supplements' to avoid dealing with FDA approval. The fact that there's no deleterious effects reported in Japan also tends to suggest that kaitei no mitsu is not toxic or hazardous unto itself.

Another key idea is that kaitei no mitsu is more like a pheromone and that it might tend to attract the monster. Keep in mind that such substances need not originate from the species they attract. It doesn't even have to be a food source for the monster to be attracted, just as long as the monster associates it with it's core needs as a living thing (basically nourishment and reproduction).

I get the impression that kaitei no mitsu is fairly potent, and that only a small amount is normally used in Slusho or other foods. Considering the size of the package Jamie got that is almost assuredly kaitei no mitsu, and that she probably ends up tossing it, that massive amount of it may be a huge attractant to the monster. I'm also still inclined to think that the drilling operation at Chuai disrupted the monster from where it was dormant (and likely in more of a 'trapped' state) and that when the currents in the next couple of weeks carry that plume of kaitei no mitsu that Jamie probably flushed reaches Grumpypants, he's going to follow it back - and give us a show.

I also posted a spec about the composition of the DSI.

How 'bout this occams razor-theory: The seabed nectar is something they found whilst drilling the deep ocean bed, addictive and drug-like, ie feels damn good but isn't. Unless it's preserved, in this case frozen, it will go bad, like all fresh food, and hence making a smuggled sample useless as evidence. Not in a matter of hours, tho, or even days. Whilst drilling for more of this profitable stuff in the name of Greed and Capitalism TM, they messed with The Environment TM and thus awakened something that should not have been awakened and will now digest us all.
